I'm traveling solo with my 3-yr-old. I know the Magical Express is free, but I'm a bit concerned with the possibility of long lines (travel dates are 12/16 and return 12/23), especially after an already long day of traveling to the airport from home, flying, etc.

What options would you recommend besides Magical Express and do you know how much they cost?

I'm I concerned about Magical Express for no good reason?

Thanks for your help!

I don't think you have to worry about long lines with DME. Free is always good. :)

Rental car - prices vary
Taxi - about $50 or so each way with tip (can be higher depending on traffic)
Town car - about $120 round trip with tip (coupons/discounts available) personalized service, driver meets you at bottom of escalator, helps claim your bags takes you and it out to curb and drives around to pick you up.
All three options involve waits: You first need to wait for your luggage, and before any luggage is put on the carousel the DME-tagged stuff is pulled, then you need to wait for YOUR luggage to come out, haul it to whichever transportation method you choose, and tip anyone who helps you with it. Taxi would probably involve the shortest wait time, since they're ALWAYS around; town car you have the additional five to ten minute wait while the driver pulls the car around; rental, you have to wait in line to rent (even if you can skip the line for whatever reason, such as prepay or membership, you still need to check out the car and then wait in line to pull out of the garage.

Even when Magical Express lines look long, they move fast. One poster recently time her/his trip at forty minutes - from getting off the plane to getting off the bus at the resort!!! Now, that's unusual but obviously not impossible - the timing on everything worked out just right :) With nobody in line ahead of me, it took me about forty-five minutes from the DME counter (when I first thought to look at my watch  ) to Pop Century. And fifteen or so minutes of that was waiting for more passengers to board :)

So, yes, most of us think you're worrying about nothing (and yes, I feel comfortable speaking for people I've never met - in this instance ;))

Magical Express transports your luggage

Agreed - we've used ME a couple of times. Only once we had to wait, and it wasn't more than 10-15 minutes.

Plus, when you get on the bus they have a video that has Mickey & lots of characters in it - much more entertaining than a cab.
