Ugh.....what am I doing wrong? I keep reading here about Alamo cars for about $35 to rent from HNL airport to drop off at Aulani. When I just checked Alamo site for our date, July 10, I'm getting a quote for $111+.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong? Is it higher because this date is smack dab in the middle of the high season? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Call the Alamo desk at Aulani. They might be able to give you a better answer. I got a great 4-day rate from Thrifty, and since we don't have to pay for parking, it was cheaper to keep the car than to take a shuttle to and from the airport.

Make the reservation. Keep checking..daily if possible. There is no fee for cancellation.

Car rental rates vary wildly and can change daily.

Try hawaiiancarrentals.com. We're going for 12 days in August, and the rates form Alamo were around $800. On this site it was around $485. I made my reservation a few months ago, and the prices haven't been lowering. I looked at getting an airport shuttle then renting a car for a week at Aulani and that cost was about $300; however, with the airport shuttle cost at $110 round trip. The price difference isn't that much higher and I will get the car a whole another week. I do check the prices multiple times a week on all the rental car sites.

If you have a costco card, u might wanna check their website too. I booked a week car rental last Jan for our June trip and it was a little over $300 incl. taxes, but i checked yesterday and viola... it is now $145, so i booked that and cancelled the first one... oh its Alamo.

Try Dollar, we just got back from Aulani and I had a 3 day rental, midsize for 76.00 total. that included all the taxes too.
