Hey gang... has anybody purchased the base park passes for WDW using Airmiles then at the parks added on the park hopper?? Has anybody had issues at all doing that?

Additionally what charges does Airmiles charge for the passes?

From what I can see Airmiles offers base tickets or... fully charged with water parks etc... nothing that just has the hopper.

THANKS!

Haven't used Air miles for WDW but have for Disneyland. Had no problem upgrading them to Annual passes.

When we did ours, I had gotten 3 day passes and the retail cost for that purchase was deducted from the annual pass cost and we paid the difference. Should be a similar scenrio for WDW.

We got actual passes from Airmiles and they came by Puraloter.

I've just transfered HBC points to get enough airmiles to buy the base 7 day child pass for my son (who is now 3 and has to pay!) and we'll be buying him an annual pass.

Last year we had bought the rest of the family's tickets from the Disney Store and then took them to Guest Services to upgrade to Annual Passes. It was very easy to do.

I know with other corporate programs, the base tickets are bought here and upgraded there.

So, it's done with many source of ticket purchases.

And we chatted with the Cast Members, the kids got stickers while they waited, in the very air conditioned Kiosk!

Wasn't there something posted about using the pass first once and then using it to trade up for an annual pass? It was to get a higher credit towards the annual pass purchase. If you give them the unused Airmiles pass then you get a credit for what Airmiles paid for it whereas if you give them a used pass then you get the gate price credited towards your AP. Is this correct?:wizard:

Not sure, as we upgraded on our last day. I do know, if you upgrade right away at DL, you lose the early morning on the pass.

Your are right that you can only get either a base or premium ticket from AM. The best option is to get the base tickets and then add the park hopper at WDW. They will charge you the same price as anyone else...$50 per ticket. There are no fees attached by AM to get the tickets. Just be sure you order them in lots of time. They will tell you it takes 2-3 weeks but in reality it's only about a week. However, play it safe. If you need to order them with short notice you can pay a courier fee...about $35....and they will expedit the order.

As far as using the tickets before upgrading them that only applies if you are adding more days to the ticket. Should you need to do this you must enter a park before you go to GS. A used ticket is then automatically valued at gate price. For example, if AM bought the tickets at a discount and you try to upgrade it before using it you will have to first pay the difference between what AM paid and gate price. Then you have to pay the upgrade.

Hope that helps.

I assume this is the same for upgrading to Annual Passes???

Yes. I did this with a ticket purchased from Undercover tourist. I had used it for a couple of days before I upgraded it to an annual pass. When you use it to enter a park first, it sets the ticket's initial value to gate price and not the discounted price. So I upgraded my 7-day base ticket to an annual pass for something like $250USD.
