Greetings to you all and trust you will all be able to keep cool and safe with the hot weather that is approaching.

Apparently there is a Travel Expo coming up in Melbourne in February where I may be able to get a good deal with Flight Centre.

My question is, should I go and am quoted a great price for our 7 tickets when will I have to pay for these? My DD who has to pay for 5 of them lives in Adelaide and says I will have to pay on the spot so how can she pay for it. I in turn suggested that we would have 72hrs to pay as per usual and she could get her details to them first thing Monday morning.

I thank you in advance for your usual good advice and tips :thumbsup2

I've never been to a Travel Expo; but I have walked into a Flight Centre shop on the weekend that the expo is on. They had similar deals/flights on that weekend instore as that of the expo price.

I believe that you might have to pay on the spot if you head to the Expo but someone else who has physically gone in and booked will be able to confirm or deny.

I do remember that a couple of Aussie Dis-sers have booked and purchased their airfares from Travel Expo's and it has worked out for them. You will need to know your pricing; and also what you're prepared to pay for tickets, direct or non-direct.

Keep an eye out anytime now to around Australia Day for Qantas specials. I also believe that Virgin might have recently had a sale. I also know that Qantas might have run specials around Valentine's Day as well. If you see the price you're prepared to pay, I'd book it rather than wait for the Expo.

Air New Zealand have a sale on now. Mel to Lax about $1100+. Check out the dates on their website.

I've bee into Flight Centre during Expo weekend and had to pay that day or close of business on the Sunday.

Do your research first and if happy with price from FC, book.

Flight Centre have the same expo over here and from my understanding you have to pay on the day. I attend many of the expos to gather the shiny brochures. (I like to flip through them like a magazine). :)

But I've never ended up booking things there as the deals never seem to suit my dates. The biggest specials always seem to be for days nowhere near school holidays or last minute flights. So I agree with PIO - if you see a price beforehand that you like, book it.

We booked our last US flights via the travel expo. we only paid a deposit and then went into the flight centre office a few days later and paid the remainder. I am sure that you could explain that someone else is making the payment they will cater to that. We told them we had to transfer the money from our home loan which takes a few days and they were ok with it.

Make sure you do your homework before you go and know what the airlines have available. I was also told this year by qantas that if any travel agent had a deal going relating to a qantas flight then they would also match that deal, if you would rather go through qantas direct instead of flight centre. Even if you would prefer to go with another local travel agent, have numbers with you and make calls when you are there to see if they can match it.

Expect crowds but at the one we were at there were tables and chairs so you could sit at and make calculations, comparisons etc. We were planning on going there again this year to book our flights but I got impatient and booked via qantas when I could get the flights for the same price as we got our travel expo tickets in 2012. So wont be going to the expo as I would hate to see even cheaper flights available and then have to put up with DH saying "I told you so":(
