Airline Rewards Credit Card Recommendations?

Hi there!

So my husband and I both have a Disney Visa already, and we use the reward dollars for our spending money on trips to WDW which is fantastic! Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for an airline rewards card that would help reduce the travel cost? We fly out of Baltimore to Orlando, so mostly Air Tran or Southwest because they are generally the least expensive. Has anyone tried either of their rewards programs?? Thanks in advance!!!

We have a southwest card and love it! We get about 10 flights a year and a companion pass, which means that one person flies free with me each and every time I fly. It's completely worth the annual fee if you are looking for a card to use and pay off each month.

I have the Capital one venture card. You get 2 points for every dollar spent and you can redeem them on any airline. The number of points needed is based on the cost on the ticket....$250 ticket + 25,000 points. Until I book my flights, I use the Cap one card. Then I use my Disney Visa until the trip.

We have the Flex Perks through US Bank (was previously the Northwest card) and I really like the change.

The tickets are 20,000 miles for up to a $400 ticket, 30,000 miles up to a $600 ticket, etc. Plus you get a $25 credit for luggage, seat fees, etc.

Two of our tickets for our DW trip in Dec. were with FF miles. Very easy to book and I had my choice of airlines and times. I got a very nice early morning non-stop flight to MCO and a later non-stop flight home.

We too had the NW Visa, which is now flex perks. We're looking to get the SW card though, because we fly them so often. I currently have a Delta AMEX, but the flights just aren't competitive when compared to SW, and trying to get rewards flights has proven to be quite a PITA! My DH had the Air tran card but apparently they charge some weird fees, like charging you for using the card, even if the bill is paid in full (or something like that!)?!?!
Since you're flying from BWI, I'd go with the SW Visa! Earn those points!

I second the Capital One Venture card. 2% back and it is very easy to redeem rewards. It is nice not to be stuck redeeming rewards with one airline.

My DFi just got the MileagePlus credit card with United and we got a free roundtrip ticket after using it and spending 200 dollars which was easy as I wanted to get a kindle and some books :)

My husband has the Southwest card and is very happy with it.

If you send me a PM I can send you information to get a free flight with your first purchase.

Thanks for all of the feedback, I will definitely look into the Capital One Venture, Flex Perks and the Southwest card! :thumbsup2

IndiannaPrincess - how do you accumulate 10 free flights a year!?!?

akcire - I will be in touch!!

For most of these rewards programs, is it mainly based on purchases through the credit card or frequent flyer miles built up on flights, or both?? :confused3

Thanks again!!!

I'm actually very close to applying for a Continental One Pass Card from Chase. The person who holds the card and the people listed on his/her reservation have their bags fly free..... The card is $25 a year. However, if my family of 4 each checks a bag, it would cost us $200 r/t for the bags alone....so I think getting this card is worth it.
