Airline Checkout at resorts

From what I understand you can complete a resort airline check in prior to leaving at your resort (I verified our airline part. in this program already)

I also understand you can't pay for any overage charges at the resort. What about checked bags? DO those have to be paid for at the airline as well? How does that work? Is it even worth it to do the airline check in if you have to the counter to pay the additl. fees?

If your bags are overweight, you pay the overage fee at the RAC counter. You do NOT have to go to the airport to do that. The only requirement is that you have to pay with a debit or credit card - NO CASH.

best part of checking luggage at the resort is if you're over the weight limit, you have time to take it back to the room, move things around (from one suitcase to another) and get under the limit. doing that at the airport is not fun. :)

Oh, ok. I must have read it wrong then. I thought it said they didn't take payment there. So if I am charged to checked bags (which I am) I will be able to pay this at the resort?

Thanks again.

You are good. We even had a military person with us; who was allowed three checked bags wit AT. It came up in the computer and the bags were free.

Remember, RAC is just like curbside check-in, it just happens to be 30 minutes from the airport.

I don't think they take payment for regular bag fees. They give you an 800# to call.

We paid for them our last trip...in Nov 11'

Going to Disney I had Jet Blue flights so no extra fees.

Returning home we checked them in under our Delta flight back..All bags were under 50 lbs. so that was ok but I believe we paid either 20 or 25 per bag to be checked in. This was handled right at the resort...POR.. H.T.H.:thumbsup2

We also paid at RAC. Two of us were in first class so we shoved 4 bags through at no charge and then they took a credit card for the remaining 2 bags.

we go to guest relation and get our boarding poasses the night before we leave and then we call airlines and pay for our bags and when we check out of resort the baggage cheker will see bags paid for already. we have not been over weight so far so do not know how that handled

The last two years I have been able to pay directly at the desk.

Last August we took advantgae of this service when we checked out of ASM at 5:00 am. It was a breeze. Just like doing it at the airport but with the bonus of having friendly and well trained employees behind the counter.:thumbsup2

We just did it right there!! Out of the way of others, of course! But no need to drag the bags back to your room to shuffle stuff around, or at least IMO it's not! And you can have them reweighed immediately! And we always lock our bags closed with zip ties, so once weighed, on the zip tie goes. I LOVE RAC!!!

Last year at the BWI one of our bags was about 3 LBS over weight which we just shuffled things around right there. It was kind of annoying that 3 LBS was a big deal, but that was not Disney's fault. We didn't have to pay for the bags as we had a continental credit card, free bags, and they knew that at the luggage check in.
