Airline baggage fees if DCL handles your luggage?

Has anyone used the airline baggage program where DCL passes your bags directly to the airline as a convenience? My question is about the airline baggage fees. I have status with American so don’t normally have to pay for bags for us when we travel together. Will we be charged since DCL is collecting the fees on behalf of the airlines?

No, you will not have to pay bag fees. You just need to indicate the reason why your bags are free on the form that you complete to sign up for the program.

I agree with @dcassetta, however, be sure to check your statement on the last night of your cruise. They added baggage fees to mine for our AA flight. I just went to Guest Services that night and told them I have the AA MasterCard and they removed the fees right away, it was easy.

My mom got charged for the jet blue baggage fees even though she had already paid for the baggage fee through jetblue. I brought her jetblue receipt to guest services and they removed the charge.

This is a great question as I get the free checked bag as well with the AA Citibank card. On my past cruises, I've always passed on the luggage service but it sounds pretty easy to get the charges waived so I'll definitely be taking advantage of the service on my next cruise. It's nice to not have to worry about your larger bags until you reach your final destination.

Same with us. We’ve done miltiple cruises and passed on this because we thought we would get charged. Looking forward to NOT seeing our luggage until we get back to Dallas!
