Airline baggage check-in at port

Is it necessary to book your flight through DCL and/ or to have DCL transfers in order to check bags at the port? I read there were 5 airlines that will check bags at the port upon disembarkment. We booked American on our own and would like to check the bags before we head back to the airport if possible.

If american airlines participates in the bag check at the port, then yes you can check your luggage in before going to the airport. We flew with US Air and booked it ourself. US Air had a truck set up at the port to check all of their passengers luggage in as a courtesy and WOW was it nice! If American has a lot of customers in that area, then I would say yes, they will be there, but there is no way to tell until after your cruise. On the otherside, You had to have DCL transfers in order to use this service! You can purchase transfers through your ta, or call and purchase them on the phone.
