Flight prices vary such a lot that we have paid between £200 and £500 per person, depending on airport/time of year/scheduled vs charter for economy seats. I know prices at peak periods can be as much as £700 per person, maybe even more.

So, for a family of 5, you could be looking at anything between around £1,000 and £2,500.

How do we handle it? Well, we've never had to pay for 5 seats (family of 4 and now, most often, just me and DH), but I guess it's just part of our vacation expense and something we know we're going to have to pay if we want to visit Florida

Hi,

I just posted on a thread in the main DVC section where you were talking about flights for your family from California. At the time we travel (August school holidays as we are teachers) the prices are £700-£800 per person to fly direct from London to MCo with Virgin Atlantic. Because we plan on longer stays - around 3 weeks - many charter flights don't offer these, also they fly into Sanford.

It makes it pretty expensive, hence why we plan on less frequent but longer trips.

Hi, I agree, I've got a family of 5 and it cost us over £3000 for airfares only in July For that reason, we also go to Florida for 3 weeks every other year and I've started putting a bit of money away for summer 2009 already!! It's so expensive by the time you add spending money,car hire etc but it's Florida we want to go to and the kids won't be young forever so we will eventually(my youngest is only 2) be able to travel outwith peak periods and hopefully get there every year
The way I see it, I want to go to Florida or elsewhere in the US, and in order to afford it, I just need to cut down on the frequency of those trips. I also tell myself it makes each trip more special that we don't get every year.
