Hi Everyone: I was hoping that some of you experienced travelers or those with a airline background can help. I need to purchase 6 tickets for a busy travel period in 2007. I know that airlines only sell tickets a certain number of days out from the original travel date. I think it is about 11 months. Is each airline different?
Also, should you buy the one way ticket and then try to get the return seven days later when it comes up or wait to buy the round trip? Last time I did this, I really paid a premium price. Should I take the risk and buy one way each way?
Last year when I tried to get tickets at 12:01 a.m. I called the airlines directly and also went on line. Although both were booking, I waited forever on hold with the airline and online the fares were crazy.
Any great tips for getting good airfares way far in advance for you super travelers? Do travel agents have the ability to get them as soon as they become available @ 12:01 a.m. or will they get them in the am when presumably airfares will be higher.
Thanks so much!
