Airfare question, please

In your experience, how soon do the seats on the 'value' airlines(JetBlue, Song, Spirit) sell out? My trip is in May, so I am wondering how soon I should buy my ticket.

Any advice would be great.

Hi -
It depends on what city and time of day you are flying. Generally speaking they are never sold out in advance. Song and JetBlue fly
757's which seat close to 200 passengers. I'm flying out of BDL in January and May and have not booked flights yet, as I usually wait for
a "reasonable" fare based on past travels. I will usually booked
2 - 3 months out. Hope this helps.

I'm leaving on Song a week from tomorrow, and they still have 4 seats open or so.

It seems the majority of seats went about 3-4 weeks before the flight, with some leftovers going about 2 weeks. I would expect all seats to be sold 1 week out.

If you're flying with more than 3-4 people, I wouldn't wait; also they tend to get more expensive the closer you get.
