Does anyone know why airfare so expensive out of newark? I keep reading posts how cheap the RT air is out of NY cities(less than $200 incl taxes). The cheapest I have seen newark on song is 207.00. Anyone see it for less? We are travelling in Sept.

You may want to consider driving down to Philly. I just booked round-trip flight on Southwest for $117 round trip all taxes included! This wasn't a planned trip but could not pass up this great price.

We're having that problem out of Newark in June. If we leave from LaGuardia it's only $120 but Newark is $260!!! We'll be travelling with our then 3 month old daughter though so Newark would be much easier, not to mention no one wants to drive us to LGA! So we're gonna wait a bit longer before we decide.

Have you considered flying out of Allentown, PA (ABE)? RT fares can be had for $118 or so. Granted it's not as close as EWR but it is a straight, hassle free, toll free shot west on I-78. The same cannot be said for LGA!

We live in western Morris county and find ABE to be the airport of choice for all of the reasons outlined above.

My problem with going to another airport besides newark is my 20 mo. old daughter. It is going to be bad enough for her sitting in her carseat 2 1/2 hrs for the flight let alone another hour in the car--- but thanks for the input! i'd definately consider it if my kids were older.

My sentiments exactly! I was tempted to purchase RT from Laguardia(for our Aug. trip), but when Song dropped to $207(they were $240), we grabbed it! Newark is much closer for us, and we will have our 3 year old with us!

I fly SONG out of Newark. DH has a bad back and a long car ride plus a 2 hour flight will make him miserable.
We live 20 minutes from Newark and we park at Avistar.
I just bought tickets for Sept for $207.20 and our tickets using SONG for Easter were $225.
Your daughter is 20 months and my big baby is 59....years.

We have also been experiencing higher rates out of ewr. Some of those lga and jfk fares look really tempting, but I am not sure the hassle would be worth it. I did book Air Tran out of phl for $126.00 for this upcoming trip. Phl will be alot easier to get to in the a.m. for the five of us that is quite a savings over newark.

Even more tempting was a flight out of Newark to Tampa for $59 each way! The drive would have been 1 1/2 hours to get to Orlando though! Oh well, I am happy with Song! I hear they have comfortable seats!

EWR's fares is causing us to fly out of LGA on Spirit, the savings were huge when you're a family of 6. I'm not sure the hassel will be worth it, but when I was booking airfare it meant going or not.

Barb: i'm with you! The airfare is always a deciding factor for our family of 5. We bit the bullet and booked AA non-stop out of LaGuardia $124+tx for mid june. Newark was over $230 at that time and still seemed to be going up. We are 30 minutes from Newark - Never been to LaGuardia and everytime I tell someone where we are flying out of they cringe and say things like: "I wouldn't fly for free from there" The best part is when i ask them what their experiences had been with lga they've NEVER actually been there.

Anyone out there actually use LaGuardia? I'd love some legitimate feedback ::yes::

BTW: Just checked and my exact LGA flight is now OVER $360/person - - - Newark is over $550 and that's not even NON-STOP!

Good Luck Everyone With Your Airfare!!!!

curly :wave2:

Spirit flys out of Atlantic City too. AC airport is a beautiful experience since it is so small. You park close and everything.

I also booked Song fram LGA for a trip in May. $85 cheaper per person x 9 people made a huge difference. With the money you save, why not hire a nice towncar or limo service to drive you to LGA or JFK and take that stress out of the picture. Thats what we did. Also, most people fly on weekends, so the city traffic is minimal. Remember, Newark airport, although closer, is no picnic getting in or out, especially terminal C.
I asked the salesperson at Song why Newark airfare was so much more for basically the exact same flight. She told me thatalthough they fly to all 3 airports, the fees to use Newark are much higher than JFK or LGA. That will always make Newark more expensive.
I have never tried Allentown, but from what I hear, the exrat time spent getting there is worth it. Much less time and money is spent parking and chacking in to a smaller airport. The same goes for Orlando/Sanford.

I have flown out of Laguardia twice! Once to go to Miami, and the other to fly to Puerto Rico! I have never had a problem with the airport! Honestly, it is not much further from Newark for us(we live in Bergen County, NJ) but DH said no way! I guess for DH...it is just habit leaving from Newark! You should have no problems leaving from Laguardia! Hopefully, you have flights leaving at times other than rush hour though!
