Hi, maybe there are a bunch of threads on this already, so excuse one more if there is. However, checking for overseas flights for next June, they have gone down over $100 per person in the last few days. What happens, if anything, if I buy a ticket and the price goes down some more?

You might want to ask this question on the transportation board there are a lot of people on that board that know the ins and outs of the airlines but I think it depends on the airline.

It does vary from airline to airline. Most will give you a voucher good for future airfare, in the amount of the difference. HOWEVER, for a lot of them, it costs $100 to $150 for them to issue the voucher (yep, ridiculous!) so, unless it's a significant difference, you really don't stand to actually gain anything from it.

You really need to check the policy for the specific airline.

Follow up, for those who look at this. (and I might start a different thread).
Shame on me for not booking for next July a month ago. For three people, on a European al, it's gone UP $500. Does anyone know if there is a point where airfares may go down again?

My airfare (my "Spirit of America trip" Oct. 2009) came throught today at $453 round trip. I feel that's pretty resonable as I am doing the happy dance as my trip is now paid in full! YEA !!

I'm watching every day. It's up, then down. Dont know when to bite. I just read today how airfares in the US are down for the holidays. I'm hoping that international fares will go down for next summer.
Also, I wonder, will AD prices go down due to the big increase in value of the dollar compared to the Euro?

Well, BA just went down considerably. Now, do I wait for a few more dollars? Granted, it's down about 120 from a few days ago. And for 3 people, that's a nice savings.
