Not sure if anyone has asked this before, but the reason I'm thinking of waiting is due to the 'swine flu' that seems to be on the media a lot lately. Disney's cancellation policy is great, so no issues there, but for the airlines, SWA in particular, if I book now (which I want to do due to the 59 bucks each way fare) but if there is a problem going, then trying to go again within a year, may be a problem. Or we may even luck out and get lower fares, who knows.

What do you think? Book now or wait? My trip is not until September as I am sure are a lot of us on this board.

If the $59 fares are still showing for your dates then I would probably book now. We got $59 for our dates in August but the prices have since gone up quite a bit. I don't know how much lower than $59 they would go, but, if by chance they did you could get a credit for the difference.

I'd book. We missed out on the $99 flights each way with Air Tran. We are now flying down to Orlando with Air Tran $129 pp and flying home with Southwest $129. At least we don't have any baggage fees on our flight home.

for September/October trip already. Got flights for $79/$59 the day they opened the fall flights on SWA but by the next day they were $109/$79 and now they are $129/$109!!!

I'll admit, I am more concerned about this darn swine flu, not that I may contact it, but that travel may be effected:scared1: I already have a credit that I can't use and then the hassle of extending etc, so that's why I was hesitating. Having hesitated, I just checked and the early a.m direct flight we were looking at has since gone up. I might then take the later one and park at the airport instead of park/sleep/fly, thus saving some money.

September is an awfully long time from now to be worrying about the swine flu. I booked my flights when the fall rates came out and got AirTran for $59 each way in September/October.
I would do it now. You'll be kicking yourself the longer you wait and the more expensive those tickets get!

A good general rule is to book a flight when you see a price that is a good deal to you. As far as the flu goes don't let something like that rule your life. Would I go to Mexico right now? No of course not. Here in Canada there are numerous cases of the swine flu but the regular seasonal influenza kills far more people every year than there are current cases of swine flu.

I work in health care and if the average person was aware of all the 'bugs' that are out there you would never leave your home. It can't be said enough, WASH YOUR HANDS. That is the key to keeping this stuff in check.

WELL SAID!! :thumbsup2

Sorry, but I still don't get the panic. It's a FLU. The seasonal flu kills upwards of 36,000 people every year. Sorry, but the H1N1 flu has to kill at least that same amount before I'll even give it a second thought.

Really, the media should be shot. :sad2:

Book those flights!

By September we'll have some other foolishness to worry about like a fish fungus or some turkey disease or something stupid like that! :rotfl:

I'd book... with the Canadian $ doing better it's 'cheaper' to fly out of the US

Like everyone else; book it Dano! OK so that really shows my age.:)

In some ways it is a lot of hype but the real issue is that this virus has mutated and spread from animal to human. On top of that it is now found in countries around the world. However, it has spread around the world due to the fact that patient zero is in a heavily touristed country. If patient zero had been from say, Iceland most likely it would be an isolated outbreak.

Will this become a true pandemic???? No one knows for sure but we are long overdue for one. They occur in cycles and there will be a pandemic at some point.

Right now there are 101 confirmed cases of H1N1 in Canada. All are considered mild in comparision to how ill you can become with Influenza A.

I look at it this way...when SARS was at it's peak in Toronto years back, did I stop any plans I had to go visit my friend in Brampton? Nope. Did I wash my hands a bit more often? Yep. Do I disinfect all the doorknobs, telephone, light switches, remotes as soon as I get into any hotel room, especially at Disney? Yep. Have I gotten sick at Disney before? Yep. Stomach bug, heat stroke, head cold.

I would book those airfares, I certainly did! Not likely to go below $59 at this point, and the H1N1 thing will probably have died down by then.

I am a true believer in the swine flu ...... Im hoping I am wrong.

After saying that, if you can get tkts for $59.00 each way I would buy them and take the chance!

I wish we could get these deals....always looking approx $600 return for each of us on the east coast :headache:
