Airbrush or not to Airbrush-that is the question...

Well, I spoke to Ana from Beaute Speciale and she is bringing 2 people (reference from prior post) and we will def have enough time...however when I was asking her about the make-up (I was planning on airbrush for $75) I told her that I don't usually wear make-up: eyeliner and mascara, and that I don't wanna look like a clown. So she goes "Oh no, no clown. But I DO NOT reccommend airbrush for weddings. You don't have a makeup artist following you around and if you are going to sweat and cry its not good"....

.....so I'm like "uuhhhhh well can you do regular"..."yes its $50"..."ok bring both".

So now, what do I do? I want the flawless look, but I don't know if she said don't---I mean she is the artist. What have you guys done or are getting???

Please help--this is the last major decision and you guys have helped before!!!

I've never had airbrushing done, but, as you said, she's the artist, so IMO, she knows best. If you think you might be sweating or crying (crying will be a major issue for me), then it's best to follow her advice. Sure, airbrushing might make you look flawless for a little bit, but once the tears start flowing and the makeup stops holding up, you might look all melty and not so flawless...

Hmmmm.... I had airbrush makeup done at my trial (with Patricia LeJeune) and didn't find it any less sweat-proof during our engagement photo shoot. I looked about as shiny as I normally do with regular foundation.

Actually, I couldn't really tell the difference between airbrush and regular makeup - I thought it was going to be more natural looking and less makeuppy, but it was just as heavy as regular foundation. I guess it blends better, though, so you have less chance for streaks.

Plus, if you set it with powder, it's going to be just as durable as regular makeup. BUT, Ana knows the stuff she uses, so I guess I'd stick with what she said. Maybe the kind of airbrush foundation she uses requires more touchups?

Sorry if this was totally unhelpful... :rolleyes1

I asked Ana about this too and she said that the airbrushing is used for more people on t.v. I had a friend who was airbrushed for her wedding and it really wasn't worth the extra money. She didn't really look much different than she did with the regular makeup. I have decided not to have the airbrushing done. I would rather put the money towards our honeymoon :)

i'm using ana as well, she does a spray so that you don't sweat anything off...i wear make up all the time...it should be fine, i danced (ballet...) for about 15 years and wore makeup under stage lights during that time, regular makeup shouldn't melt, but it's good that she does a spray and makes it waterproof...it should be fine!!!

Ana from Beaute Speciale?? She uses a spray? Its waterproof? Why wouldn't I do that? I'm still so confused!

But I do like saving the extra money for the honeymoon!

They spray something so you don't sweat off the make up? Thats great. I hate to admit it but I sweat from the head and Im so worried about it.

It is a "setting spray" that makes your makeup sweat-proof and waterproof. It really helped me the day of our wedding - I was crying all over the place. ;)

The "setting spray" Ana uses is awesome. When we go to WDW in the summer, I don't typically bother with putting on foundation, powder or blush since it all sweats off, but when Ana put the makeup on and the spray... it stayed put. We got married August 1st and it was hotter than heck. The make up didn't budge. I "patted" a lot during photos and was dripping (sorry for the visual there), but the make up looked fine through it all !

I am so glad to hear that because we are getting married on July 4 and I know it will be HOT! I don't want to look like a shining beacon on my wedding day or have makeup sliding off my face

Hmmmmm......I dont think I would try something new like that on your weding day. If you want the "flawless" look, especially fro your pictures, as a photographer, I know your photographer can easiy help your photos and portraits by simply using a brush tool. God Luck and hope it helps!

I am going to get Model in a Bottle. It is a makeup setting spray I saw on Oprah.

Ok if you want to have airbrushing done... Your wedding day is not the day to have it done... I have done airbrushing in the past and the slight hug from a relative is a guarentee that your relative is going to wear on the clothes... It just doesn't hold write...
Lisa Pena did my make up and she sprayed the make up sealer on my face and when I tell you that my make up was sealed on... it was sealed on til almost 4 in the morning... That is when i took my make up off.. The only thing I needed to do is touch up my lips....

I recently emailed Beaute Speciale about this and she said that airbrushing is best for TV appearances, and so to stick to normal make up. I think that's probably good advice! :) I don't want to be scrubbing until the early hours!
