what places after security are ther to get coffee and drinks around 7:30am near the gates that usually have the air tran waiting gates. We have always flown spirit, but with the charges for baggage and I can't find the exact flight we want, I think we're going to go with Air Tran, is there any advice out there? Thanks!

just wondering, does it work the same way for stollers with every airline, just bring them right to the plane and they'll store them? Also, for car seats, do I check them or bring them the same way as strollers? Thanks!

Yes, I saw them pulling out stollers and such right at the gate on my last Airtran flight. It was out of Flint, but I think they all work the same.

Hi Anabelle - we will be flying AirTran out of Flint for our September trip. This will be our first time flying AirTran or flying our of Flint. How is it. Flint seems way more convenient than going to DTW. Is the parking pretty good for (for 8 days), secure? At this point we have a nonstop leaving early in the morning, and a return nonstop in the mid-evening - exactly the hours we were hoping for. Does AirTran pretty much keep to their schedule, or do they rearrange (SURPRISE!) every once in a while after you've booked? Thanks in advance for your help (or anybody else's help that wants to jump into the pool!).

Flint is awesome. You park across the street from the terminal-very close. The airport is small but nice. We usually take the first flight out, so don't really see delays. Airtran has moved our Sept flight out of DTW about 15 minutes total so far. Not bad.

I totally agree with anabelle. Flying out of FNT is awesome! Everything is soooooo easy! We usually have DH drop us and the luggage off at the terminal while he takes the car over to the economy lot to park. The lot is fenced and seems to be well secured. They even have free battery jump if you should happen to need it. Then he catches the shuttle back to the terminal to meet us. I always check in and get our boarding passes online so all he has to do is meet us before we go through security. Then on the return I go wait for the luggage while he grabs the shuttle to go pick up the car. He pulls right up to the terminal, we load the luggage and we're off! I'll gladly pay extra to fly out of Flint instead of any other airport. Thankfully, that's not usually the case. :cool1:

Thanks for the input on flying out of Flint - we are from Port Huron, and DD :ccat: lives in Grand Blanc, so it just seemed to be perfect, and it really sounds like we were right! Looks like a nice airport, and I had heard that it is really increasing in popularity. Thanks for the information.

I love going out of Flint. It is so easy in and out and parking. Also just got Flint to MCO end of Oct. for 116.oo rt. Yeah

I would agree that Flint is great to fly out of.I don't think that the NS flights in and out of Flint on Airtran have been changed by more than a half hour or so any of the times that I have flown with them.I am also totally bummed because I missed the 116.00 roundtrip flights for late October! The price has been $99 each way forever and has now gone up to $104.I guess that will teach me to miss even one day checking airline prices.:sad1:

Wow I think I'm going to have to try flying out of Flint sometime! I have always done DTW or Grand Rapids, I'm from Kalamazoo.

I'm flying Air Tran in Sept for the second time. (The first time we got bumped so this one is free).

I had a great time last time and can't wait for this one! I remember strollers being gate checked but don't remember anything about car seats.

There was a small coffee place in the terminal. I think it was StarBucks.

$116 RT? and we thought that we did good at $148 RT - oh well, we are still happy with our fare, and WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!

OT - sorry OP! How did you guys get such low fares out of FNT? I was waiting for a ding on SW but I would love to fly Flint for a similar price! Thanks!

AirTran had a web sale good for Jun. 5-6. They don't always advertise their sales. I check their web deals several times a day. If I have a specific time frame in mind I check those dates and 2 days before and after using their flexible search feature. The fares usually show up before it actually posts on their web deals section. It's all in the timing.

Yes there are coffee services and snack areas there is a quiznos and a starbucks in the terminal for Air Trans

Okay I am jumping into this discussion. We were going to drive down to Disney like we did in Jan. but with gas being so crazy up in the Mitten we have decided to fly out of flint. We live in Rochester so could do either but have heard good things about Flint as opposed to Detroit Metro. Question though...never flew airtran (got tickets for $128 RT + tax) do you ahve to pay extra for your luggage like on other discount airlines? Also how much is it to park? Do they have Stay and Fly (or Park and Fly) hotels in flint like in Metro? Thanks so much!

You're allowed to check 2 bags at no cost. Not sure on parking fees, but you can check their website at www.bishopairport.org and get the info. Don't know about the Park N Fly, sorry. I think you're going to love flying out of FNT.

I just checked with disney last night and they were still offereing the $128 rt + tax flights but Tran Air's website did not list these. So if anyone hasnt booked yet go through Disney and grab the good deal.
