Air in my heating pipes???

Ok...so over the past few days, my heat has been on non-stop. (Getting colder up here in NH!) I have been hearing weird sounds in the pipes while sitting in my family room. It sounds like water running - but in the walls. My DH says it's normal - but it has been happening a lot lately?

Just curious if anyone else has this problem? Is it air in the pipes? We have propane gas for heat - so I just want to make sure all is safe!

What kind of heating do you have (hot water, forced air, old fashioned registers)?
