Air Fresheners in the Room

I just have to post this...

Right before our last cruise we had read a tip about using air fresheners in the room. So what we did was we bought a series of Yankee Candle hanging air fresheners, and not a scent that we had ever used before. The last thing we did when we parked our car was, we put one in our car. Then we put them in our stateroom so every time we came back to the room, we would smell the air freshener. Then whenever we would get into the car, we'd have the same scent. It would trigger memories of the cruise.

Fast forward 3 months later... tonight we went to Cracker Barrel for dinner. After dinner we walked through the store and went to the Yankee Candle display. We picked up the same scent and smelled it... ah... it smelled like our cruise.

We asked our 8 yo son to smell the candle and asked him what it smelled like... he smelled it and thought...then said "The Disney Cruise!"...

OMG...Wow! He didn't know that we had done that with the air fresheners... so it was truly a scent triggered memory for him. It practically brought tears to our eyes that it triggered it in him too.

I just had to share that tip... and to let everyone know... it works!

From now on... we're using that same scent for every cruise we take!

We've been using the ones from Gold Canyon in our rooms (on the ships and in hotels) for years...but I never thought about having one waiting in the car or at home for the memories. That's cool!!

Bath and Body Works "Island Nectar" is the cruise scent for us. Takes me right back onboard in my mind - and then usually to the computer to start planning a new cruise vacation!

Yep, we're sailing again in May as well. May 13th on a 4 day Dream. I am constantly at the computer planning our next vacation....

I LOVE this idea!

Scentsy's Camu Camu is a great choice. But I can't do that scent because my son already has the Camu Camu Scent Pak in his Scentsy Buddy he sleeps with at night. So I will have to pick out something different. I will have to go down to my basement and play around with my inventory to see what unique scent I can pull out for our cruise.
