Just as the title says...already booked through a credit card travel agency an Air Canada vacation package for free dining and now we are thinking we might want to upgrade to the deluxe package. Is this possible after the fact? Can I do it directly through Disney or do I have to do it through the travel agency? Can we upgrade when we check in?

TIA!

I would think that you need to upgrade through your credit card travel agency since you didn't book with Disney. Usually any changes have to be made by your travel agent if you used one. I'm not sure if you can upgrade at check in though.

I agree that you have to go through your travel agent. The reservation actually belongs to them.

I had heard that if you wanted to add a dinning plan on to your existing reservation that Disney would prefer to know by three days before your arrival. I assume the same would be said of upgrading to Deluxe dinning.

Speaking of the deluxe plan. I have used it. It is a lot of food. To get your money's worth you need to do sit down meals. That is a lot of time spent away from the park. When I did it my hubby and I left the kids at home so our vacation was more about eating than rides and that was just fine with us.

Yes, call your Agent to add and YESSS it is a LOT of food!
Waaaaay too much for me and mine!:thumbsup2

Sigh...I figured we would have to call the "travel agent". The agent was no help at all when booking and we just used them in order to use our remaining points on this credit card. In fact, I had to explain to her what the free dining offer was and basically walk her through the Air Canada Vacations booking page. We went through the whole thing and asked her to confirm everything back to me and she goes through it all and just calls the resort the "All Star" resort. I then asked her to confirm that it is "All Star Movies" like I originally asked for and she looks and says "It is All Star Music, that's the same thing, right?"

Anyway, we realize it is a lot of food but we are just thinking about doing a bunch of the dinner shows and and CRT that take 2 credits and if you add up the out of pocket costs you get pretty close to the cost of the upgrade.

Makes sense...

Perhaps you'll get the TA on a day off and be able to talk to another more Disney savvy agent!;)

I think I know which CC company you are talking about. The "TD infinity travel CC" right? I got the same problem with this travel agency too. Unfortunately you will have to book/modify everything through this TA.

No, actually that who we use now and have been really happy with them. The "TD Travel Centre" is actually Carlson Wagonlit travel. Also, with TD you can book your travel through anyone (ie. Disney, Expedia, Priceline, whatever!) as long as you charge it on your VISA and they just remimburse you as a credit on the card. That is what we will do in the future and book through Disney directly and then have our points value reimbursed.

This was through an old CIBC Vacation Gold and they make you book a pre-made package through Air Canada, Nolitours, etc so we were unable to book Disney directly.

The DxDDP is awesome. Yes it is alot of food but we always upgrade during free dining.:thumbsup2
You need to have it added on a minimum of three days before your check in date. You cannot upgrade once you get there.
And yes ...you will have to do it through your TA since they are the ones that "own" the reservation.

I guess it makes sense you have to add it ahead of time because you have to make the ADR ahead of time anyway.

What about the ADR, does the travel agent have to make those for me too??

Also, does anyone know if you are on the deluxe dining plan do you still have to prepay on your credit card for dinner shows and CRT?

From what I understand you can make the ADR's yourself. You will just need your reservation number to confirm that you are staying on property if you take advantage booking all of your ADR's 90 days before checkin.

If you are on the DxDDP they will not charge your credit card. They will just keep the number on file in case you no show for your ressie or you cancel with less than 48 hours notice. Then your card will be charged. I did this last year for CRT & CG and there were no problems!!
