Air Canada refunds of Airmiles (or other reward) flights

Called AM today just to find out any status updates. Glad I did. We had booked our trip to and from as separate bookings. I had used the link twice to request a refund for each one. However when I called today, he only had one in the system so he entered my other one. He says all refunds should be given by July 12.

I received another email to request the refund, so I resubmitted the request. I used the link to make two requests as well and only one account got credited. I will call before June 1 if the other account still has no update. Thanks for sharing your info here!
 
Be proactive everyone and keep after them. You don't want to get to a point where we pass June 1 (their cutoff date) and they get to then wipe their hands of the refund.

I am glad that I called to follow up just a minute ago. After submitting the request twice, it’s still not shown in my account. Luckily that DD’s account got credited a day after I submitted the request the first time. Otherwise, I would keep waiting and miss the deadline. The AM CR submitted the request online for me and noted that I called today to confirm if the request had been received successfully. I did mention someone I knew of checked and found out one of the requests was not on file, so I wanted to check to make sure.

I called and they said they can't check,lol.
 
Put in another request and screen shot the entire process. That way if it doesn't work out you have proof that you submitted before the deadline.
 
They (AM agents) could have been more helpful. Some agents seem to go the extra mile and others won't budge an inch over what they are required to do. Sad :(

I actually dealt with two. The first was online...she told me to call the 1-888 number.

The second just told me that as long as I got the confirmation saying the form had been submitted, that I should trust the process and that there was no way she could check to see if the form had been submitted.
 
Submit again then. I know when I first contacted them the agent did all the work for me with Air Canada. Then I got the email (a week later) and I submitted a second time (didn't trust the agent had done it correctly because it was the first day). I haven't received two refund payments so Air Canada seems to be able to handle a double submission. It can't hurt.

I submitted my request April 22! I called today and they mentioned because I booked in 2019, it’s on Air Canada’s other system yadayadayada…and they still haven’t heard from air Canada yet.
Then she said they are expecting them within a month of July 12. Umm I thought all refunds were supposed to be given by July 12? I said that they should be advocating on their clients behalf to get the refunds in a timely manner. She then said she would email the team handling it to try to expedite mine. I am so not impressed with my experience trying to get these refunded going back to the initial cancellation on March 13, 2020 to now.
 
Keep after them. If you keep calling you might get a really helpful representative.

FYI I booked my flights December 15, 2019 for travel in April 2020. I called the day they announced that Air Canada was going to give refunds. My miles were back in my account by April 21 and the $ back on my CC a few days later.
Their saying 2019 is the reason is not valid given my experience.
