One of my college teahcers who also happens to be a travel counselor told me that if you check-in online for an Air Canada flight out of Pearson, that you can get your checked bags tagged at the same counters for those who use the express check-in kiosks. So when we would arrive at Pearson we can go right to those specific counters, however I just want to confirm if that's true? It's not that I don't trust what I was told, I just don't remember seeing anything in the old Terminal 2 that said Air Canada online check-in guests go here, the way they do that for WestJet. Plus my family and I have not flown on Air Canada since they switched Terminals, so I would not remember seeing anything which said to do that in the new Terminal. I also checked the Air Canada website and it says drop them off at the web check-in counter, so it does not mention going to the express check-in counter to get them tagged.

Now I just read that if you do web check-in you can go to one of the express check-in kiosks when you arrive at the Airport, print out your baggage tags and put them on yourself. So would you think that's a good idea because Air Canada says you can do it or would you feel better if one of their employees did it for you?

whoa....you have me confsed considering I fly Air Canada every other week. Air Canada is Terminal 1 isn't it???

You can print your boarding pass online prior to your fight and then yes, you can go directly to a counter (or a line to the counter because almost everyone knows that they can preprint their boarding pass) and this is where you have to check in your luggage.

I fly domestic so I am not sure how it will work flying to Orlando - which I am doing on Monday. I can't imagine them taking your luggage as you have to keep it with you until you are through customs......

Nor would they allow you to tag your own bags since they will weigh them to see if you are overweight and to put the matching bar code on your boarding pass in case of lost peices.

I am not thinking it is as simple as was described to you - but let's hope we are pleasantly surprised!!

I meant that we have not flown on Air Canada since they switched from Terminal 2 to the new Terminal 1.

I forgot about them possibly being overweight and getting those reciepts if they get lost, so those are some a good points.

You can check in on-line, or via the kiosks at the airport. You can also print and tag your own luggage at kiosks as well, and yes, it prints your luggage receipt for you in case your bag goes astray. You then only have to go to the express luggage drop off and lay your bag there. There is an attendant there who will just check the weight, but other than that, the process is very fast and extremely easy.

The caveat here though, as mentioned, is that you cannot do this for a trip to the US as you must clear US customs at Pearson and to do this, your luggage must be with you.

But if you're flying domestic, then yes, the process is as quick and easy as it seems was explained to you. It's really great! :)
