12 days ago i sent my luggage on a plane but it did not get to Orlando with me. I went on a cruise then one day at Disney but am home now. The paper work is incredible, and the call center in India is a joke for info. Anyone have suggestions to get some satisfaction? I bought stuff while i was away and had better get reimbursed for that but now that i am home can i still buy or what?

all i can say is the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

when in doubt escalate it higher and higher until you get an answer you are satisfied with even if that means calling and calling the powers that be.

Hi there,

Sorry for your troubles! I hate to be the bad news bear, but the most they will give you for your bag is $500.00 but they will pay for "reasonable" expenses while you are away. However, DO NOT think they will pay for anything while you are back home. A friend of mine was told no way.

Regs,

I am assuming you filled out the baggage declaration since you mentioned paperwork. I recently had very good service dealing with AC regarding a complaint. I am assuming you have this info but I will post it. Your trip insurance will cover your losses also. Let us know how it all works out!

Whom do I contact if my luggage has been missing for MORE than 5 days?
If your baggage has been missing for more than 5 days, please complete the Baggage Declaration form you were given when you reported the loss. Mail the form in the pre-addressed envelope.

Any other type of baggage-related claim or complaint may be sent in writing to:

Air Canada - Baggage Claims
Zip YUL 1116
P.O. Box 8000
Airport Station
Dorval, Quebec
Canada
H4Y 1C3

or faxed to:
Fax: 514- 422-2900
Toll free 1 (800) 237-3563 (within North America only).

I hope if my stuff is lost i get more than that per bag. I had a tux and ball dress, shoes and dresses in one garment bag that is worth at least 3 times that. Drag n fly thanks for the info that is what i am starting now.

OK...I was wrong...but here is the detail direct from my ticket for an upcoming AC flight.

NOTICE OF BAGGAGE LIABILITY LIMITATIONS
Liability for loss, delay or damage to baggage is limited unless a higher value is declared in advance and additional charges are paid.
For travel wholly between points in Canada, the liability limit is $1,500 CAD per passenger. For most international travel (including
domestic portions of such journeys), the liability limit is approx. $9.07 USD per pound ($20 USD per kilo) for checked baggage and
$400 USD per passenger for unchecked baggage. Special rules may apply to fragile, valuable or perishable articles. For further
information, please consult your carrier.

Do you have travel insurance on your credit card? On my card, I have baggage delay as well as lost/stolen luggage insurance.

If you bought the things on a credit card, you can get reimbursed by the credit card company for lost or stolen items. I have a friend whose ipod was stolen and they were reimbursed by the credit card company.

Thanks for the info. I will check all sources. I have no idea how heavy my bag was though, but they were full.

That info should be on your tags that they gave you when you checked in. They get weighed as they get checked

Yes, my luggage is still on vacation 13 days later. Air Canada is now asking me to do all the paper work as if it were lost not missing. What a bunch of paper work it is. Here I go... Wish me luck.

I received 1 piece of luggage today. They say another is on the way and the third is still MIA. Of course i finished all the paper work so you know they were going to find it after that. Unfortunately the third is the one with the expensive formalware in it and a borrowed bag to boot but were are still hopeing.

Good Luck PeanutGirl -- its terrible when this happens. Keep us posted and fingers crossed you get it ALL back.

When I lived in Los Angeles, AC lost my luggage.. it was brand new. When I finally got it back.. it looked like Edward Scissorhands had been working in baggage handling. The bags were shot. (But everything inside was ok!)

I should not be telling you THAT story..

Hopefully you will get it all back soon. I remember last year, fellow Disser mbb lost hers on Air Canada and if I recall correctly, it was never returned. Hopefully, your story will be better!pixiedust:

I hope so too...pixiedust:

700+days...but who's counting??:teeth::teeth:
Both of our pieces were "lost" YYZ-MCO leg.

AC contracts out call center baggage services to "World Tracer", as do several other large legacy carriers now.

The big difficulty with our file was that it wasn't "pushed" from the MCO Baggage office...so while we waited, and waited, faxed forms, etc...our lost bag claim still hadn't even reached YYZ...until after the 5 day bag hold in YYZ was up, and our bags were shipped out to goodness knows where.

*Then*, they magically received our claim.

At least that's what we've been able to piece together.:confused3

We were reimbursed, much, much less than the value of our bags and contents (with receipts too) - 6+ months later..and only after many, many phone calls, letters to both AC and World Tracer.

And with extensive "help on the ground" from some very kind DISers and their families.:goodvibes

What was oh-so-very-frustrating for us, was the lack of willingness to provide info on "what happens" to the bags...

So good luck, and if I can be any help with info, feel free to ask! LOL!

The third and last piece arrived today!!!! Now i only have to try and get my money back from all the money i forked out to cloth my family on our 7 day cruise and on day at Disney. Thanks again to everyone here who help with advice, i will probably ask again soon.

Thank Goodness! That 3rd piece sounded like it would have been expensive to replace everything.
