Hello all! I'm new to the W.I.S.H. boards but thought I'd jump on in and start a journal. :cool1:

A little bit about me:
My name is Aimee, I'm 34 years old, married, and mom to two amazing little boys. Recently I got sick of sitting on my butt, so I decided to make some big changes in my life. The majority of my life was spent being very active, healthy and thin. Over the past several years I have become less (ok, a lot less) active, healthy and thin. LOL It doesn't really matter how I came to this point, what matters is where I go from here!

I want to lose 30 pounds. I NEED to lose 30 pounds. But even more importantly, I want to look and feel healthy again. So, here I am. I joined sparkpeople to keep track of my calories and was blown away by just how much I had been eating! Did you know there are 400, yes, FOUR HUNDRED, calories in a Route 44 Sonic sweet tea????

I decided to start running again and started the Couch to 5K program. I am loving it! I used to be a runner pre-kids, but that was 7 years ago! LOL I've set a pretty big goal for myself to run the Princess 1/2 Marathon! I've got a lot of nay-sayers in my life, but I know I can do it. All their negativity just makes me all the more determined to do it! I've already signed up and booked our room at the Poly!

So join me on my journey to better health and the Princess 1/2 Marathon!!!! princess:

Hi Aimee,

I am looking forward to reading about your progress. I am new here also. Do you have a date for your 5K yet? A 1/2 marathon 8 months from now sounds like a great goal. It is great to have short, medium, and long range goals.

You are exactly right to get motivated by others negativity. They are just trying to make themselves feel better about not working out. They are really jealous that you are changing your lifestyle.

David

Hey David, thanks for stopping by! I'm having a hard time finding a 5K to do any time before late September... I guess the 100+ summer temps here in Texas just don't scream ideal race conditions. LOL I'm still searching, though as I'd really love to do one at the end of August.

Today I started week 3 in C25K, and I'm so proud that I was able to run the 3 minute intervals without practically dying. As luck would have it, I was running uphill every time it was time to run. But I did it! And didn't even feel THAT winded afterwards.

Hi Aimee,
Keep up the great work. You go ahead and prove them all wrong. That is the best determination and motivation one could have.

100 degree temps-UGH! I love the heat but not when I want to run.Actually 50 degrees is about the best with the sun shining.

Have a good one,
Linda

HI Aimee! I'm on my 2nd round of C25K! I did it last Sept/Oct in prep for my first 5K. I did the Minnie 15K in May and have since taken a break (too long of a break though). I'm back on C25K. I'll finish it just before it's time for me to start training for the Disney 1/2 Marathon in January.

I wish you well on your journey!!! oh, and Yay on your 4lb loss!!! :cool1:
