I turn the teapot on, I go back out to the kitchen a few minutes later and it's off! 
I turn it on -- a few minutes later it's off. On - off. On - off!
Actually, it's my forgetful mother.
I turn the teapot on, she thinks she left it on, so she turns it off. This has been going on for about a half hour now, until we both showed up in the kitchen at the same time.
