Ugh... between BIL shaving a couple of days off our trip in January and DH failing to let me know 31 days out that he needed to cancel the studio portion of his March golfing trip we are left with 82 holding points.

The up side is DH and I are thinking about a quicky trip for just us, sometime this summer.

A 1 bedroom for a Thurs and Friday night at SSR is 81 points... perfect! (well close enough lol) So what are the odds that we could book it less than 60 days out for a weekend in July ( the 14th and 15th) DH and I prefer to stay in a 1 bedroom, but would go for a studio at BWV or BCV.... ugh

I would love to jump on airfare now... but I am nervous about getting a reservation that uses most of our points, on such short notice. I suppose there are other rooms options, but I would really like to try out SSR AND use up most of the points.

What to do.... what to do....

Hi,

Great news!!! Have a good time!! Pixie dust for the airfare!! :wizard: :wizard:

I would take my chances and go ahead with airfare. My guess is you will be able to get something, if not at SSR, maybe OKW.

Yeah, seems likely that you could get a one bedroom somewhere.

Also, airfares may not be as good right now as they'll be 60 days out. It varies a lot from market to market, but I usually book air <60 days for my business trips because the fares to well-travelled airports are often better then. Not too close, mind you, but between 60-30 days, you should be able to get good airfares. (On the other hand, I am flying OUT of Florida, so it may be different coming in.)

If you're renting a car, check fares to Tampa, Jacksonville and West Palm Beach. All are reasonable drives and you may find better fares to one of those airports. Even Fort Lauderdale might be a good choice (only about 2 1/2 hour easy turnpike drive).

New fares are usually posted Monday midnight/Tuesday morning. Early Tuesday morning, you will have the best combination of fares and availability.

One other technical computer geek note: There is some weird white stuff all over the roof of the house and all over the ground in your picture. What's up with that?

In case your not joking.... it;s called SNOW. If you are joking... it is pudding.

And thanks for the tips on airfare. RIght now SWA has their 79 buck flights and that seems to be the best deal out of Chicago.....

That's a great fare if you don't mind SWA. I usually pay $320-400 RT from MIA to ORD on AA. And Miami-Chicago is probably less expensive than Chicago-Orlando, just because MIA and ORD are both major hubs. I think I'd jump at that fare, although I'm not familiar with SWA's cancellation policies.

We had pudding in Miami once, about 20 years ago, but it didn't stick.

SWA is fine transportation, esp when we need 5 tickets. We used AA for a while becasue us loved the extra room, but the lowest fares I could snag (and only if I was lucky) were around 230 RT... SWA is 160 so our family saves $350 bucks... that is a lot of Disney Dollars.

AND SWA is great about crediting you if the fare goes down. You can even rebook a lower fare online.

We like to stay in first class accomdations, but we are willing to fly no frills.

BTW I am currently planning a girls trip to Miami for May. Planning it makes the pudding seem more palettable. :dancer:

I booked SSR yesterday for late June no problems...

I would think those dates are far enough away from the 4th that you shouldn't have a problem.

Good luck!
