This summer, my friends and I would like to go on some trips to various amusment parks around PA/OH/VA. However, we are all 18/19. Do hotels rent rooms to people under 20? What about if we had a credit card to back us? Some of these trips would be impossible to do without an overnight, so a hotel is a must.

Never heard of this. Wow. I've heard of it with car rentals, but not with hotels ...

Depends on the hotel. You should ASK before booking the room, because they will ask for an id when you check in and if you are under 21 (and in some places 25!) they will not let you stay there. THis happens most often around beach hotels (they are tired of having their hotel trashed by young people), Yes, it's unfair, but it is a fact - so do your research before booking.

You should try calling the hotels that you are interested in staying at and ask them what their policies are for people at your age and about having or not having a credit card.

DD rented a hotel room at Ocean City, MD last summer when she was 18. I mentioned this very question to a lawyer friend at the time and he said it would be discrimination if they didn't rent to her.

Really? I know Cedar Point won't rent unless you are 20. It says that on the website.

You should call the individual hotel or check their website. Many of them don't rent to anyone under 21. I found that out when my sons got to that age, and wanted to go places with friends.

Thanks for the advice. When we start to set up more plans, I'll give them a call. Does anyone know about Disneyland? My friend and I wanted to go out for the 50th, and this issue came up.

I think it depends on the area or place you are going. I have noticed this in college towns and spring break places. I lived in Panama City, FL and they would not rent to anyone under 25 without a deposit (I think it was for about $500).
It has to do with younger aged people partying and trashing rooms. I'm not saying all do this but I'm sure this places have had problems with this.

I'm pretty sure Disney only requires you to be 18. If you call them, I know they will tell you what is required...

Have a great trip :)
