Age limit for POR with family of 5?

Just popped in to our travel agent to discuss looking into the pricing and such for a May 2014 trip.

She is a former Disney employee from the Canadian pavilion. I want to say it has been at least 2 years since she left, possibly more.

She was sure there was an age limit for the Alligator Bayou rooms with the trundle bed. (which is why I'm sure it's over 2 years since she was there, because everything I've read here has said they are all murphy beds and updated rooms).

She said she'd price out connecting rooms for POP as well, and double check the age limit thing. And that the extra bathroom with two rooms would be great.

But I really don't care for POP. With this being a surprise trip for the kids, DH and I have pretty much settled on POR, and will deal with only one bathroom for the 5 of us. We did it for two weeks last summer for a vacation, and managed quite well. And at POR, the sinks are outside the shower/tub area, so we'll manage even better than we did last year.

Anybody have any confirmed answers about this?

DS will be 12 when we travel. We've even measured out the size of the murphy bed - it is totally going to work for him.

Thanks!

It's not recommended for kids over 9 I believe, but they won't stop you from booking it with an older child.

Yes, you can book POR Alligator Bayou with your family of 5. As PP pointed, out, trundle isn't recommended for children over 9, but if you feel it will work for your family, go for it! I would not recommend 2 rooms at POP - one, you don't want to be there, and, two, they won't guarantee connecting rooms.

Thanks!

With our hearts set on POR, trying to make ourselves like POP was just not gonna happen. I'd much rather find a way to scrape more funds together and go deluxe instead of two value rooms!

We were totally spoiled for four days last year at POLY, but a full week is just not budget friendly.

They are fine as long as the 5th person is under 18. My 16 year old cousin slept on the pull down just for fun (we had 4 adults one child, and our 4th adult had to cancel last minute so we ended with only 4 total in room). The CM noted in the ressie when I initially booked that we were aware the size of the bed, no issue.

Perfect! Two of our five are under 18, so we're all set. I'll be sure to tell her that when she calls with prices for me!

The banquette bench seat folds down into a bed--kind of hard to comprehend how it works! But its dimensions are 30"x 63" so it's not very long... an average twin size mattress is 39" x 75" for comparison. :)

I agree, this is why we booked here for our next trip, our heart is set on POR like OP, we love the theming and boat ride to DTD! If your 12 year old isn't almost as tall as his dad like mine was than he will be fine I'm sure!
