We don't live anywhere near an AG store. My daughter likes the look of Emily but is confused by the color of her hair. It says "gingery-red" on the website, but it looks brownish. If anyone has been or has this doll, your help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Ginger is exactly what my DD describes her Emily as - it's definitely not just brownish, it's a really pretty reddish.

Thank you so much. My DD has had her eye on Emily, but has been reluctant because of her hair colour. She loves the way she looks and was hoping it was a reddish brown not a bright red. All the pics on the internet are the same one as the website. She would prefer to have a historical doll because she likes the idea of their stories (instead of a just like me). I appreciate you taking the time to help explain this to us as we're AG newbies!:cheer2:

My DDs first doll was Emily and 12 AG dolls later she is still the most loved and most played with. If you ak my DD what color Emily's hair is she will say brown, I consider it a brownish red maybe? I would definitely get her considering her and Molly are retiring this year!

Thank you, I appreciate a child's view of the doll's hair :) Thanks to all who've tried to help. I will definately try to order her this week. We just watched the Molly movie on youtube. I don't think it matters much what color her hair is now, she's in love!

Does anyone have a pic that they can post for me? My daughter has brown hair and loves the classic mold of Emily's face. She loves the clean line of her eyebrows, unlike many of the JLM dolls. She would like a doll that looks like her but thinks Emily is beautiful. She's hoping that she will be close enough. Her sisters have picked out JLM dolls. The other doll that looks the closest to her has freckles (which she doesn't have). My dd just turned 10 and has had a generation doll. She's ready and responsible for an AG and that's why this is causing her a lot of stress (she doesn't want to choose wrong). Many thanks in advance (again)!

Sorry I don't have a photo to post, but my DD has Emily and said she would describe her hair as reddish-brown (not as dark as Saige's, though), not Anne of Green Gables carrot red. We like the ease of caring for her hair and she does have a very sweet face. If your DD loves Emily, let her get her, even if she doesn't look exactly like her. They don't make a JLM doll that looks like my daughter, and it doesn't really bother her. She loves to dress like her doll and that is good enough for her. She is 9, if that helps at all. Also, if your DD decides she truly doesn't like Emily after buying her, I know AG is pretty good about letting you do an exchange as long as you return the first doll with all her original parts and have your receipt (they can look it up if you ordered online).

You can do a Google image search to find personal photos of Emily dolls (not just the stock American Girl ones).

I just bought her for my youngest DD for Christmas this year. It is definitely reddish/brown but not super red. My oldest DD has Felicity and the hair is much lighter then that. Much more brown. A cross between Felicity and Kit. HTH. And good luck!!

PS: She is super cute. When she came I thought she was much cuter in person. :thumbsup2

Here's one of her outside- it's definitely reddish, in my opinion- your DD is also more than welcome to flip through my album with more pictures of Emily to look at her hair, if she wants, though the one below probably shows her hair color the best: http://s178.photobucket.com/user/Meghanlee5/library/Restless%20Emily?sort=9&page=1
