After Thanksgiving Day Sales.... Who's getting up Early?

I LOVE shopping on Black Friday!!! The people watching is great!!! I usually have most of my shopping done by then and go to which stores seem to have the better sale.

This year I am taking my DSIL with me. We will be leaving by 5:00am and will be in line when Wal-mart opens!!!

Yeah!!

:earseek:

Nine years ago, a lady hit me over the head with a hangar while doing some Black Friday shopping!:duck: I'll never go back...:scared:

Yea! I am one of those crazy nuts. Haven't decided where I am going yet or what I need to buy, but gotta shop at dawn

:wave2: Me! I am only hitting Target tho; we got there at 7:15 or so last year and I swear we got a parking spot at the front door- there were NO mobs of people! We got everything we wanted to get, no waiting in line, and we were done! It was amazing. I am hoping for the same this year.

Y'all have fun. While you're out in the crowds I'll be tucked in my warm little bed thanking myself for giving up my "Black Friday" habit.

I don't know about other places, but here people turn MEAN on Black Friday. I realized after one year when a woman ripped a $3 Candyland game out of my hands at ToysRUs, there was no amount of $$ I could save that was worth subjecting myself to that.

I will check the ads and have been very successful with online sales. I usually end up spending the same as I would if I had fought my way through all those evil bargain hunters. ;)

I have a DATE with Target Friday morning and a date with Big Lots on Thanksgiving Day at 8am!

I lost interest in that DARNED Walmart last year. They were open 24 hours and instead of opening their doors they had people who had been there since 12m holding tickets. When we got there at 5am we were LATE!! Never again!

I personally don't like walmart either... ours is not 24 hours, but they just "rub me the wrong way".

I also go to Target, but I am going to Kmart on Thanksgiving.

My sister and I will head out by 7:30.......we like to sleep in a little bit!!!;) :p

Will be heading for the stores in Battle Creek!!! Maybe I'll run into some area DISers!!!

Jen - good news on the Shops at Willow Lawn front! We are actually thriving without the big stores! Dillards left in the summer to move to the new Stony Point Fashion Park Mall and our sales actually went up.

We are doing better by bringing in "destination" stores. Staples will be moving in early 2004. We are thriving on the fact that people can park, shop our store, get right back out and be on their way. They have found that this is the new trend in shoppers - they don't want to deal with the big enclosed malls. We are actually doing better than our store at another major west end mall :)

Hope you get the chance to stop by and say hi :)

Laureen, you may be interested to know that in the Philadelphia Inquirer (Sunday) had a large 3 page article on how the shopping trend is going from enclosed malls (once the big thing) to speciality or destination stores.

The article chronicled how shopping trends have changed from the 1960's to today.

If you feel like reading it , here's the link. I actually found the article really interesting.

I believe my sister and I are heading out this year! It will be her first time. :teeth: Not early though...more like 9am. She'll probably grumble at that. ;) I don't really care if I make to the early sales, I just enjoy being out that day. Usually my whole weekend after Thanksgiving is shopping and decorating for Christmas. When I get tired of decorating I go shopping! DH has gone with me in past years....he must of been good luck, because everywhere we went there we no line! It was a first! He's working this year though...I don't think I could make that an every year thing!;)

May the shopping gods be with you all!!!!:teeth:
