after staying in Deluxe for past 2 trips, could you go to a Value?

We began our Disney stays at Deluxe hotels, (1992-1998) But I quickly caught on that we could go to WDW for 4 weeks at a value for what we were paying for 1 week in a deluxe. The math was simple. I took the 4 trips instead! Then in 2000 I wised up even more and moved to Central Florida. We still stay on property frequently, but now it's for an occasional weekend. But with our AP we can experience the magic for a few hours then go back home.

We have stayed at valve to deluxe. Now when we go I like a pool , balcony and a good bed. Last three years we have stayed at BC/YC and we love it.
Might try AKL but like Boardwalk and Epcot.

What it really comes down to is, a longer stay at a value resort, or a shorter stay at a deluxe. We stay at the Poly. for atmosphere, and I like the convenience of the monorail right at my hotel, just so easy to get to MK and EPCOT. When we had dinner at Jiko, I was amazed at the beauty of the AKL, however, it just seemed too inconvenient to get to the other parks. But, it's all subjective. Hey, if your budget can handle a deluxe, why not, if it doesn't go value, you're there, that's all that matters.

I could do it, if it was just me and a child. After deluxes I went on a solo trip a couple years ago with my daughter-- actually planned for a Value and got an upsell to a moderate, but I think it is all about expectations. It's just a different type of trip. With a deluxe plan to be more pampered and enjoy our resort. Value is probably best for a commando trip. And if it is just one adult and one child, the size of the room is not such a huge factor.

It all comes down to you and your frame of mind. If you go into it thinking about all the deluxe amenities you're gonna miss, forget it. But if you go into it thinking well, for this particular trip this is the best we're going to do or stay home, and I'm going to enjoy it for what it is, you'll enjoy yourself.

I always smile though when people say how much time do you really spend in your room. Our family spends quite a bit to my mind! We have always had young children in the party so we return for naps and we turn in somewhat early. And stay six or seven nights. To me that's a long time to be somewhere, so I'd better be happy in my environment!
