After MNSSHP, bus or drive to POR - which is quicker?

We will be staying onsite without a car and using the buses for the majority of our WDW stay. However, on our last full day, we pick up our rental car (to use on the rest of our U.S.A. trip) and so we will therefore have it available to use when we do MNSSHP that night - Friday 7 October. We are staying at POR and I'm not sure if we should bus or drive the car to MK for MNSSHP. When we leave MNSSHP, what would be the quicker way to get back to POR - bus or drive our rental car? Thanks :)

The quickest way I think would be via car and paying for parking. No waits and just get in and go.

We have found that getting over from the resorts to MK around the start of the party there may be a couple of extra busses get they get full real quick. They do put on extra busses at the end of the night for the returns to the resorts and the wait times are not bad at all. Now we make ADRs at a restaurant near MK (or in MK) so we can just hop the monorail, launch boats or walk to the party.

It would be the convenience of coming and going. MNSSHP is great!

If you are a WDW resort guest you do not have to pay for parking at the parks. You will be given a parking pass at your resort.

Having said that, I would still not drive to MK. You have to park at the TTC lots. So leaving MK you have your choice of A) waiting for a bus near the park entrance, or B)waiting for a ferry or monorail to get back to the TTC, then waiting for a tram to get to your car, then joining the lineup of cars to get out of the parking lot, then driving back to your resort.

I might consider driving to one of the other parks (haven't done this in 20 years though) but never to the MK.

But if you wait on a bus you may not get on the first bus that comes due to over crowding so I would drive. Leaving MK you will be on a four lane road so there will be two lanes of traffic to exit MK so the traffic is not that bad.

I'd ride the bus to MK. It's the one and only park I'd choose riding a bus over driving. The reason is the TTC. It can take a long time to get from MK to the TTC depending on crowds. At the TTC you may still have to get a tram to get your car, if you're parked far enough away. Even under the best of circumstances this is a lot of hassle, in my opinion, versus just getting on a bus at the front of MK and riding it to your resort.

We're probably going to MNSSHP on 10/7 as well. See you there!

Ds and dgs will be going on Thursday Oct 6. They are super excited and have no idea what is ahead of them.
Just that last visit the park was closed and we had to leave for the party. The first year I saw grownups in costumes and no idea what was going on was Sept 06.
Now my grandson gets to experience it.
