After 9 months we ARE back, again : 16 NIGHTS of gluttony, PLETHORA O' PICS 8/31/24-9/16/24-NEW POSTS

Finally, someone else who things the fried chicken at Homecomin is overrated! We had the chicken and biscuit brunch a few years back and while it wasn't bad, it also wasn't close to the best fried chicken we've had.
I think people who rave about the chicken perhaps live no where near any place that serves goodish chicken, It's
mediocre at best.

GASTON'S TAVERN

Gaston's tavern croissant 2.jpg
2nd visit

Most foods in Magic Kingdom are okay at best. BUT this one smacks you in the
face with it's bold sweetness and perfect texture. We loved it so much we got it again.

BUT I had a genius idea on our way over and did not mention it to my wife.
I wanted to see her reaction, since she secured seating in the mobbed tavern.
I asked for a side cup of the frosting that accompanies the crappy cinnabun and
she gave it for free. It really adds another layer of sugary stupendousness to it.
I dare you to tantalize the taste buds further...Gaston is Defeated!!!!!! I Slain he...

GIDEON'S

We usually only enjoy the cake slices and PB cold brew , but this time is DIFFERENT...

View attachment 898012
WOW..... this time it SUCKED, hardly any PB flavor and over all it seems
so different and not in a good way. This will be our last time for this.

View attachment 898013
Wife loves this one, but not as much as she loves me. So we got one, I take a
bite for evaluation each time and always conclude the same. Nope.

View attachment 898014
This looked amazing sitting there in the cookie case so we had to rescue it from there.
After talking calmly to it was decided it would be prudent to eat it.
Good thing we did, Hubba Hubba this was glory in our mouths. WOW WOW WEE.
So good we did buy it again later in the trip. I love rescuing Sea Turtles and more so when
we can eat them Mmmmmm.
View attachment 898011
Since we rescued the one sea turtle cookie we noticed the sea turtle cake was entrapped in the display
case as well, on this fine day. We ponied up some coin and broke him out of there.
The turtles creamy insides were a percolating pulsation of pleasure on our palettes,
pleasing us oh so profusely. Also grabbed another turtle buddy to help him acclimate to his new home...
in our gullets. Swim and be free little ones....We'll see you on the other side...

I'm very jealous that you got to try these sea turtle treats! They look amazing. I wonder if your PB Cold Brew was actually a Cookies & Cream Cold Brew. Last time I ordered the PB they gave me the C&C instead. It looks from your picture that there are crumbs on top, like my C&C one had. Perhaps that's why there was no PB flavor. The Cookies & Cream one isn't nearly as good. Here's a photo of the Cookies & Cream one they gave me (looks similar to your photo).

It was most definitely peanut butter, it just was very faint.

FOOD & WINE

FW-chili.jpg
Not a fan of lamb but the other meats over powered in flavor so this
was a tasty chili, even though it was not remotely chilly out, my sweat was sweating...

FW pickles.jpg
The line was absurdly long, but at least it was indoors. I love pickles and any one who has
read my reviews knows I am the pickle master. You have to be a mighty good cuck to tickle
my pickle and this was it! Eureka. Such lovely dills dancing in my mouth. Only down side
is these are not available year round. What a pity.

FW nitrogen potato.jpg
We were expecting a over hyped treat and we were WRONG.
It is a great as everyone claims. Creamy and wonderful bold flavors through out.

FW Morocco pistachio cake.jpg
Looks mid at best, but surprises you in taste and texture. Would get this
anytime, always excellent.

FW Germany noodle.jpg
We usually love both, but not this time, one bite each of the apple and tossed it.
The noodles were just okay, but to heavy for this time of year and not that great anymore.
This are now on our never again list, right up there with buying property on the moon....

FW France beef bourguignon.jpg
Always a stellar banger and this time no different. This needs to be
sold by the vat.

FW flavors burger chips.jpg
Corned beef is always great, loved it still.
Burger, flavors were good but size to cost ratio is NUTS. HEY Flavor booth
go F yourself.....

FW earth eats food.jpg
Absolute perfection of short ribs. So good we got it twice.
Lemon was a stand ovation of flavor. Loved it so.

FW carrot.jpg
Some of the best carrot cake we both had, BUT what the hell they
thinking for this tiny size. Come on cheapO's

FW Belgium beef.jpg
Not bad, but felt it was much better at past F&W festivals.

FOOD & WINE (continued)

FW America menu.jpg

FW America.jpg
Great wieners you have there...But loved Chicago more, it had the better
dong. It just deeply dangled better in the throat..
Chocolate pudding was decadently delicious.
All the portion sizes and prices were great too.
ALL HAIL 'MERICA

FW Australia lamb cake.jpg
Shrimps were good with a slight welcoming spice kick.
Loved the veggies that accompanied it.
Cake was also a nice not overly sweet surprise.

CREW'S CUP LOUNGE

FIRST ORDER
Crews cup sliders 2.jpg
Second order just as perfect as the first.

We've always wanted to try it here and we finally meandered over to give it a shot.
Originally we were just going to split an order in case they weren't that good.
Plus it seemed pricey for just two sliders, so we were going to have it as a snack
and get food elsewhere.
But after that first bite I immediately reordered more. They are Impeccably wonderful.
I just wish they were a little bigger since it is 20 bucks for two little sliders.
Holy crap these are must get every trip now.
Hopefully they bring the burger back so we can try it. Unless it's the same on as
in Ale & Compass which we already had.
The chips that came with it were also excellent and I really enjoyed dipping it into that horseradish sauce.
See you in May you little buggers.

COOKES OF DUBLIN

Cookes burger.jpg

Cookes chicken.jpg
We have not had this in a while and glad we did, the burger is very good and I like
that they cook to order.
The real star was the kids chicken tenders. Adored the batter and how amazing of
a tender it was. So tender in fact, it wept tears in my mouth as I gingerly bit on it....
Going to be coming back more often, and yes that was a threat Cookes....

CONTEMPO CAFE

Contempo melt.jpg

Contempo PB cookies.jpg
We were excited to try the melt, but after biting into it the excitement quickly
left the building. Not very good, the worst part was waiting forever after placing
a mobile order and it was not busy. They were so sorry the cast member brought us
the cookies to apologize. Sadly we did not care for them and gave a family
near us the other cookie which they were happy about.

I love that they include a Sonoran dog, even if they called it "southwest style" for some reason. Tucson is a an absolute haven for foodies and I'm glad to see some representation on the American menu. Now let's get some prickly pear cocktails on the menu next year!

CENTERTOWN MARKET (Caribbean Beach)

Centertown market platter burger.jpg
When staying so long at Riviera sometimes we like strolling over to
invade their food establishment. All the past times we liked it.
We normally adore the meat platter but this time is the one
that now turned us off to it. Be gone!
No more shall we be seeing you scurvy scum meat-pirate.
YO-HO, YO-HO, A BETTER MEAT WE SEEK...
And that is not the burger you seek. BLAH. Mac & cheese was passable.
Looks like when we are staying at Riviera we will not bother any longer.

CONNECTIONS CAFE

CC pizza chicken.jpg
Heard good things about the new chicken and pizza. WELL the chicken praises are WRONG.
Overpriced chewy crappy chicken, terrible glaze. NOPE.
Pizza was okay in the pinch, and you need a pizza within a 300 meter radius of Spaceship Earth.
Better version of high school pizza meets Papa Johns. Not horrid but not worthy.

Crew's Cup Lounge is a hidden gem. I'd love if they brought back the burger too. Back in the day it used to open at noon and was a favorite spot to hang out when I had to do some work or if it was too rainy or hot to enjoy the parks. Sorry to hear that some prior favorites let you down this time. It's so disappointing when that happens. I'd heard rave reviews of that patty melt at the Contemporary but I guess I will temper my excitement to try. From a food perspective, would you say the Riviera is the best resort?

BOARDWALK DELI
BW deli-ruben.jpg

BW deli-doodle muffin.jpg
Since we were eating around the Boardwalk, Beach club, Yacht Club.
we decided to grab a little snack here first. Since I've seen positive
compliments on the Reuben we figured it was worth a go.
Not bad definitely better than we expected, but certainly not anything
that would hold up to a great deli.

We got soup for our side and it was very good soup.
Disney must use the same tomato soup all around property because
they all seem very similar.
The doodle muffin was taken back to enjoy in the room later warmed
up with some butter as it's supposed to be. Always tasty.

(This evenings food fiesta included: Boardwalk Deli-sandwich, Beaches & Cream- ice cream & Crew's Cup Lounge-sliders)

Riviera is a very good food resort. Definitely one of our favorites.
Our only wish is that Topolino's had a more vast menu for dinner
and went back to breakfast the way it used to be.

BLUE RIBBON CORN DOG

Blue ribbon menu.jpg

Blue ribbon pickledog.jpg

Blue ribbon pickledog inside.jpg

We definitely had higher hopes for Blue Ribbon, but they were quickly
squashed as we try to take a bite into this monstrosity.
The batter was not good, the pickle was way too tough and rubbery to bite through.
The hot dog was much too thin and not very tasty.
And the odd peanut butter inclusion did not go well with it, we did try it and immediately hated it.
For the exorbitant overcharging price of this, they could have at least given you some fresh cooked kettle chips.
This was an absolute one and done.
You can ram this corn dog up your cornholio.....
