After 7 years on the DIS I got my first ever nasty

The person in question sounds very young, they just need to live a bit longer. I do find this concept interesting, however. Some people feel that because there is suffering all around us, we don't have the right to be happy or light about our own circumstances. Or sometimes people feel we shouldn't complain about 'petty' problems, when others are experiencing deep troubles. Well, that is life. The joys and sorrows come to all of us. Let people have their joy.

You weren't able to PM them back. How convenient. Sounds a bit cowardly to me.
Obviously this person can dish it out but can't take it.

You mean other people don't celebrate their dogs' birthdays? Oh no, there goes the special meatloaf cake and silly party hats!

I hope everyone celebrates Blue's birthday on July 2 with us!

I just wanted to see that in bold--I love it!

I got my first nasty ones after 4 years of posting--I just sent them around to my friends and we laughed. I couldn't believe someone was that mad.

I'm actually impressed that it's been 7 years and you now are just getting one. For some of us it was a lot shorter time. :p

Animals are part of our family. I know both my dogs birthday.

Just remember not everyone on the Dis is taking their meds like they should be. :p

Hmmm... Sounds like someone who's never been blessed with the love of a great dog! The pic of your velcro dog always makes me smile. I'm just waiting for her to grab that biscuit off her nose. :teeth:

I don't think I've ever gotten a nasty IM... yet.

but I heard you got other types of p/ms

It would be just so nice if folks kept their personal opinions to themselves.

For the record, I know when my dog's birthday is & we celebrate it just like he's a little human.

Try not to let this bother you too much. Life is too short to worry about people who like to send nasty PM's or complain about something someone said in a post.

 I admit that I celebrate my cat's birthday (oct 28 ;) ) and besides his sweaters, he gets his own halloween costume. Pets become a part of your family!

My dog's birthday is May 18th. If her birthday wasn't surrounded by human birthdays in my family I'd probably use it as an excuse for cake and ice cream!

I'm know there are many of us who sometimes come to this board to be cheered by fluff - and what could be fluffier than a pet!

How silly and immature!

I wouldn't give it a second thought...

Kallison, you don't have to defend yourself at all. Whoever sent that obviously has problems.

Ha, I love your response: "So as my dog would say, BITE ME"! (That's one of my favorite phrases. In fact my husband just brought me back a t-shirt from Florida that has an alligator and "bite me" on the front!)
Really, some people take any excuse to be nasty. There's nothing wrong with loving your pet. I wish people would direct their venom towards some of the truly awful things that go on in the world instead of people just trying to enjoy their lives.

:space: Don't you wish you could send them to another planet. Sorry to hear that someone can't bare to hear happy news!!

Don't feel too alone. I have been here since when? Check my post count out to determine that year, cause I don't know. LOL But I too just learned of the IM (is that what it's called?) thingy's. I deleted them from the past, who knows how long? Many birthday wishes I might add, which is in November! Not sure that they were all from the same year? Perhaps they were, but I can't say in all honesty!

LOL N Bailey, they are called pm's (personal messages). Sometimes you get a notification that you have one, sometimes you don't.

Now I know why you didn't respond to my birthday wishes...I was SOOOO hurt all of these months...just kidding, I missed your b day...but hey, happy super belated birthday!

As to the OP, people are wierd. I wouldn't give it a second thought. I celebrate my dogs b days, they are family. We also celebrate our leopard geckos b-days...I guess THAT is wierd. Oh well...bite me if you don't like it....:teeth:

I am too sorry that people can be so nasty. I received this on our family website.

Comments: Pray tell, have you ever heard of SHOES, SNEAKERS, ETC.? It's not exactly "age appropriate" for A TEN YEAR OLD to not wear shoes, sneakers, etc. Your pictures are otherwise cute of your other two daughters. Not everyone goes to WDW or any other such place to be grossed out by ugly bare feet. Then there is saying "no shirt, no shoes, no service"...
How did you hear about this site? www.disboards.com

I was crushed and at first I felt like I needed to justify my special needs child not wearing shoes. Some DIS friends said just to brush it off. I did just that but would love to hear why Sara did this. She didn't leave a return email so I have no way to respond to her. We are working now to try to get it removed from our website.

Tell your dog Happy Birthday from us!!!
