I wish I saw the whole special! I caught the last 20

Nice list! Missed the show. Typical for me:rolleyes: Maybe someone else can collaborate this but I don't think Audrey Hepburn actually "sang" either of those songs. I believe they dubbed in someone else's voice.

The show had a lot of great behind the scenes comments and one of them was about how Audrey sang Moon River.

On My Fair Lady memorys are not always 100 percent
but it seems there was an interview years ago with her commenting on singing the song.

I agree. I was under the impression that was not her voice, at least in My Fair Lady.

wow thanks for posting the list i was looking for it last night online. I was hoping Come what my would be on the list and it was. That song makes the movie for me !! Thanks again

Just to add to Truth's list up there --

The Sound of Music had three songs as well, all by Julie Andrews --
10. "The Sound of Music"
64. "My Favorite Things"
88. "Do Re Mi"

Marni Nixon had 3! She sang Natalie Woods' part in Tonight #59. She was the voice of Anna in Shall We Dance #54 and sang for Audrey Hepburn in I could have danced all night, #17. I was appalled that they didn't give her credit for all the songs that she's sung in the movies.

What a talents this woman has. Interestingly she also did the part of Grandmother Fa in Mulan.

To add to Elwood Blues' comment above, Audrey Hepburn did sing Moon River, but that was not her voice on I Could Have Danced All Night or most of the songs in My Fair Lady. She did record the songs, but they were not used. Instead, they used the versions recorded by Marni Nixon, the same woman who sang for Natalie Wood in West Side Story, as Virgo10 also mentioned.

As my DD and I were watching this, we started making a list of all of the movies we need to rent! It was such fun watching these great movie moments and explaining them to my 10 year old. Also nice to have something you could watch with your whole family.

Is there a CD box set with all of these songs? I really enjoyed the program last night.

yes both are rigth to a degree she sang the songs but later they were over dubbed here is a exerpt and a link

In George Cukor’s 1964 My Fair Lady,
one of the best musicals ever made, Audrey plays Eliza Doolittle
who is made over from a flower girl to a duchess for the
amusement of linguist Henry Higgins. Of course Audrey Hepburn
practiced very carefully for all of her singing parts, but after
production began all of her songs were overdubbed. Though not
amused after the work was all put in it probably saved some
trouble considering that Rex Harrison did all of his own singing and
insisted on doing it live for the scenes. This meant that he was
live miked through most of the movie and many of his scenes had
to be done a multitude of times to get the sound right. There is a
recording of Audrey Hepburn singing I Could Have Danced All
Night available with the DVD and though she sings well, the woman
who overdubbed her part, uncredited, Marni Nixon had a much
stronger voice. Marni Nixon was also the voice for Anna in The
King and I and Maria in West Side Story so Audrey is in good
company with Natalie Wood and Deborah Kerr in being
overdubbed.

I have that DVD you speak of, Truth. That is where my information comes from. That, and the multitude of biographies I have read. (I am a collector of all things Audrey.) Another little known fact: It is actually Audrey's voice at the beginning of "Just You Wait", but when the actual singing kicks in, it's Marni Nixon. Some speculate that this is why Audrey was not nominated for an Oscar for her performance in My Fair Lady.

I thought the voice of Grandmother Fa in Mulan was the woman who also did Rocky the flying squirrel in "Rocky and Bullwinkle". Maybe Marni Nixon did her singing voice?

Lot of good stuff. :)

But that's not important right now.

I'm having a deja vu and not of the melodious kind. Make way for additional cluttering please. TIA.

Rock'n Robin- Yes, June Foray who voiced Rocky of "Rocky and Bullwinkle" did the speaking voice of Grandmother Fa, but not the singing voice.

As for Audrey Hepburn, I've heard some of the tracks of her vocals dubbed into the movie and I have to say that I thought she was great. She really seemed more real in a way when it was her voice. Honestly, I always thought it was strange that they thought a cockney flower girl had to have a strong, trained voice. I especially thought her original vocals were just great in "Wouldn't it be Loverly" (why didn't that song make it on the top 100?) and "Show Me".

I was a little disappointed that "Beauty and the Beast" and "All That Jazz" were so low on the list. Oh, well.
