ADVISORY - Freight Rail Labor disputes could have impacts on rail travel to WDW, UOR, and DLR

Due to the possibility of Freight Rail Strikes, Amtrak is beginning to cancel rail services outside of the NEC and will have impacts on intercity passenger trains in Florida and also parts of California. I am aware that the Surfliner will run between Fullerton and San Diego.

Do take note that, effective tomorrow (Thursday), ALL Amtrak long distance train service will be SUSPENDED until further notice. This impacts trains 91, 92, 52, and 53 - all of which serve WDW. My advice? Please:

• Have an alternate means of travel, especially if you came down via Amtrak to WDW.
• Be aware that Amtrak's phone lines may be slammed over these next few days, please plan accordingly.

Likewise, for those SunRail users in the Orlando area,
FDOT is evaluating the situation regarding SunRail here in the Orlando area, as they appear to be vulnerable. My advice, if you regularly use SunRail to commute, and are not considered an essential worker (i.e. Construction, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Food, or anything where you HAVE to work in person) then please by all means either consider an alternate mode of transportation (i.e. drive, Uber/Lyft, Lynx) or better yet, work-from-home if your job allows it. And if your trip isn't essential by all means stay at home or have an alternate means of transportation available.

Yea, the local news stated this is going to be soooo bad.
Amtrak is just part of the issue.
Products is really the bigger issue. Another supply flow problem.

Same thing can be said for Metrolink and Pacific Surfliner as well.
Bottom Line - DO NOT travel by train UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY until this is resolved.

Reports are that a tentative agreement has been reached. But get ready for everything to cost more again. Still have to be ratified but the immediate problem has been solved.

Update: Looks like a strike is possible come December 2022....
Per trains.com:

A strike isn’t imminent. The status quo period for BMWED will expire on Nov. 19 and for BRS on Dec. 4, according to the Railway Labor Conference. If the operating craft agreements fail to ratify when the votes are counted on Nov. 21, they have a status quo period extension that would run into December.

Please continue to monitor the situation and have a backup plan in place!
