DH will be having a day at kennedy space centre during out trip,it means me and DD's will have the day to ourselves.

I won't drive in orlando so we need something that will keep us busy for the day.My first thought was to hit one of the disney parks for the day, but it mean's we are then stuck there for the whole day.I was also thinking maybe getting dh to drop us off at coca beach on the way,It there anything else there apart from the beach?would it keep us occupied for the day?

Or another thought, getting him to drop us off at wet and wild then at least if we have had enough there we can have a walk and a shop along idrive? Whats everyones opinion's? or any other idears on how we can spend the day.

DD's are 6.

Hi Vicky,

Personally I would go for one of the Disney parks - if you get bored or fed up you can always hop to another (assuming your tickets allow you to park hop?), in fact do your tickets allow you access to the waterparks as you could do a half day there and then a park?

Wet N Wild is not a full day IMO though yes you could go for a wander up I Drive. Only thing is, what if the weather's bad?

Sorry, not much help!

Have fun!

Karen

Tricky one as if you have a fixed number of days on your disney tickets you will end up with less days than your DH - this of course may not be a problem for you if you have unlimited access.

You could spend the morning at a Disney park then use the Disney transport to get to downtown Disney where you can shop/catch a film/do DisneyQuest.

Alternatively, you could do Wet'n'Wild in the morning and then use the trolley bus to get to Festival Bay and catch a film at the cinema there or head a bit further to Belz to shop. I've never used the trolley bus but I see it trundling up and down I-drive. Not sure if it goes as far as Premium Outlets but that is a good shopping destination.

Personally I would want to go to Kennedy as I think it's great and my DS (10) would agree but I guess it's not to everyone's taste.

Thanx
The space centre is really not my kind of thing and i think the girls would get bored.
we do have the hopping option on our tickets but we only have the 5 park ticket.
I thought about doing one of the disney water parks but we would lose the day and DH would want to go there anyway.

Wet and wild is a good option as the kids could spend hours and hours in any water park, but if theres not much else to do down i drive i'm not so sure.

Any idear's what we can do if the weather is bad?

Sorry so many questions. :)

We do this every year. My husband has a day's golf and we go to our 2nd day free at Seaworld. It's worked fine each time we have done it! He comes into the park late in the afternoon to join us for the rest of the day :)

 But the KSC is the one of the most awe inspiring places on earth. :earseek: The chance to see a Saturn V, walk around an orbiter (I hate the term 'shuttle'), visit the rocket garden, see an IMAX movie, examine vehicle assembly building and, best of all, the chance to meet an astronaut is, for me!, an earth shattering experience! Ah well, each to their own I guess - the world would be boring if we all liked the same things :flower:

There is so much to see and do on I-Drive, that it takes multiple visits to even scratch the surface. Have a look here at what is on offer. If it's raining, how about Festival Bay for shopping and a movie? The Mercardo for the Titanic exhibition, Belz or Pointe Orlando - any of these on top of some time at Wet 'n' Wild and your day will fly by.

I think a workable option for you,as you have the 5 park tickets, would be to start at SW ( as a second visit) to cover things the girls like or maybe missed on day 1 (something like Pets ahoy might be a good miss for your DH, but the girls would probably love the show) feed the dolphins (again) , spend a little time at the Tide pool (kids of that age seem to love the chance to get their hands (up to the armpits :D) in the water) and let them charge around the kiddies area (Shamu's happy harbor), there is a "wet area" here so if they have their swimsuits on/with you they are going to have great fun. If they are bored/done by say 2.00 you can take them back to your hotel to swim, or take a taxi down to WetnWild at unleash them there for a couple of hours. At that age, either of mine were happy to sit in the front row of Shamu stadium show after show getting drenched :umbrella:

Thanx, given me some great idear's there.

I was having a look at the Wonderworks site ast night, looks good.Anyone been?

How about just chilling out by the pool at your hotel/villa?

I probably came up with this because my DD was 16 months when we were at WDW in September so I didn't sit down for long. Sounds like bliss to me...........At 6 will your girls splash about in the kiddie pool while you watch them and flick through a magazine with a cocktail in your hand?

Guess it depends where you are staying too.

Does sound like bliss mrsminniemouse.
Staying in a villa so that wouldn't be a problem.

Personally I would rather pay to go to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon then to Wet n Wild. I don't think there is that much difference in price. Believe me the people and the attraction would be worth the slight difference.
Hope this helps.

If you went to Typhoon Lagoon, you could also go for a stroll around Fort Wilderness (and maybe even have lunch there). My girls absolutely loved the petting farm at that age.

I'd vote for a day spent in and around Downtown Disney - there is loads to do there and it is nice and relaxing. You could always combine it with some time at one of the water parks.
