How Long Until Our Next Disney Trip?

I could use some suggestions please.

Our family of 6 has DVC booked saturday 11/5-12 at AK-Kidani :goodvibes

Flights just came out on JetBlue, and we are booked to arrive on friday 11/4 at 7:30pm.

My initial though is to try to do a cash rental at All-Star Music to try something different & besides a cash rental for 1 night at AK is pretty steep?

Then have Disney transfer our luggage etc to AK in am while we are at the parks?

Maybe I need to run over to AK in the am first to check-in & give my cell so they can advise when unit is ready?

How has anyone else handled? What would you do?

Thanks in advance!

I like the certificate idea. I would suggest she make a "certificate" offering to take her friend out to dinner at a place the friend chooses. Most of the time when we have guests, they take us out for one nice dinner.

I think this is a reply to another thread Diane.

I would pack one bag with what I need in the room and have bell services hold the rest and transfer them in the morning. You could give that bag to them or take it with you in the morning. We have had no luck with getting the text messages about what room we have when it is ready so next time will ask for a call instead. If you do online checkin and state you will be there early AM they may have a room when you do check in. You could do bus to AK and then to the lodge and then to whatever park for the day or take a taxi which shouldn't be too much from All Stars to AKV and then on to the park of the day. I did this one time between AKL and OKW but I had a rental car so it was easier in that I got up and went and did the checkin while son was still asleep. When I got back he was up and ready and we took everything to OKW because my GV was ready at 7 am.

Our most recent trip was my first time doing online checkin and they said the room was ready but when we got to it, it hadn't been cleaned yet- mousekeeper was just getting started on it when we got there. We went back to the desk and they found us another room even though it was early in the day and they could just as easily have said you will have to wait.

We went the other way, from Kidani to Pop because of airline reservations. We just dropped our bags off with bell services in the morning and went to the parks. Then we took the bus to Pop about 8 pm when we were switching parks to check in. Came back around midnight and our bags were in our room. It just occurs to me that if we had done online check-in for Pop we wouldn't have to had to make that extra trip to check in. Do you have dining or park tickets tied to your Kidani reservation? If so you will need to go check in first thing in the morning.

Thanks for the info. We do not yet have anything else tied to our reservation. Haven't decided on the dining plan - and I don't want to pay for it so far in advance anyway. Park tickets are I tend to purchase when we arrive by using Disney $, and there is a possibility we will be getting at least a few of us the annual passes (depending on what materializes for our plans in 2012). Of course, I've also now been reading that maybe I should purchase tickets before August in case there is a fee hike - typically that time of the year?
