Advice to keep your Bag Safe at the World

Before we went to the world in Aug. we talked about ways to trade safely in a large group. I thought it might be a good idea to do it again...

1. there are so many bags that are the same try and distinguish yours in some way.

a few suggestions have been to put your name on it. Put stickers of your fav. charactor. Paint something on it... etc....

If you do not feel comfortable about a trade, just say no thank you. You are bound to find that trade later.

I have a small Mickey Mouse bell that I hang from my bag so that if it moves when I'm not touching it I'll hear it.

I put certain pins in the corners of each page so that when it's open I can see what book is mine. I also use some yellow pages in the books that I make (most use just black) that way I can spot it real quick.

well it's hard to miss....but soon I will be switching books to the new WDW pin trading book....& I suggest getting the embroidery at the christmas store in dwtn disney. I will be getting some done on the new book...PLUS put the pins in your book in some order you understand..NOT a normal order. ALOT of people group due to what they are...LE or SETS......TRY to mix it up, so if you look down & there is 3 books there....automatically looking at 1 page you should be able to pick your book out!!!!
just some helpful reminders....when all else fails just steal nat's book!

I was recently at DL and got my pin book there. I usually go to WDW so I figure that the 2001/Sorcerer Mickey/Disneyland logo will be more unique there. I'll also be putting something like a luggage tag on mine in such a way that it isn't easy to remove. I've just gotten into the trading so my next trip will be the first with a pin book.

I agree with you! The DL bag has a beautiful logo. But, just to be safe . . . why not add something to easily identify it. One of my sons has a couple of pins on the outside of his, my second son has a special key chain attached to his, and I have a small flashlight attached to mine so the going-blind geriatric crowd can see their pins more clearly!

Just a couple of things that I've toyed with.

1. I've got one of the DL large zipper close pin bags. I noticed that when the zipper is closed it comes close enough that you could use one of those small luggage locks between the zipper handle and the shoulder strap ring. I know that these locks are far from fail safe but it would provide a visual clue to your bag and keep anyone from just easily sliding the zipper open. Of course you could put a better lock on it but the zipper could alway be broken too. This is one of those cases where maybe a small lock would "keep honest people honest" as the old saying goes.

2. I took an AP lanyard and pulled it loose at the velcro to make one long strip. I clipped it to the shoulder strap ring at one end and threaded it though all the swivel clips, shoulder pad, and adjustment clips so that it showed up on the outside of the original shoulder strap. I left the original strap as I didn't think the lanyard was strong enough as a strap but it looks like my shoulder strap is an AP lanyard. I have an Animal Kingdom strap that I could use in the same way.
