My family and I are renting DVC points for the first time, for a stay next January. Now we are interested in buying 7 day Park Hopper passes. Any advice on the best way to do it?

Some things I need advice on:

1. Having to worry about carrying tickets and room keys vs. one Key To The World (KTTW) card combining both. Can you even add park tickets to your DVC reservation and your KTTW cards?

2. Buying the tickets now or buying the tickets at the hotel, considering a rumored ticket price increase later in 2010. Will buying now prevent me from integrating my park tickets into my KTTW cards, etc.?

3. Purchasing direct from Disney or from a discounter. What perks do you miss out on from buying from a discounter (KTTW integration, etc).?

Thanks in advance for helping us on these questions.

You may purchase them at the resort, or pre-purchsae them and pick them up at the parks. You may also buy them from an authorized online discounter, like Maple Leaf or Undercover Tourist.

If you pre-purchase them, just present your room keys and the unused tickets to the concierge desk in the lobby, they can transfer them to your KTTW cards.

Thanks Chuck! You mention pick them up at the parks. So when I arrive at my hotel (BWV), I have to go to a gate of one of the parks (Epcot back entrance or DHS?), pick up the tickets, then before I use them, go back to the hotel and transfer them to my KTTW cards?

If you pre-purchase them from Disney and use the will-call option for pick-up, you'll need to get them from guest services outside one of the parks.

If you pre-order them from Disney and have them mailed to you (additional charge), you will receive the actual passes in the mail and can just present those and your room key to the concierge desk.

Thanks again Chuck. And if I have tickets mailed to me from Maple Leaf or Undercover Tourist, will I be able to do the same?

If you use Undercover Tourist, sign up for the Mousesavers.com newsletter. Comes out on the 15th of each month, and they generally have a link to Undercover that gives you an extra little discount off of their discounted prices. UCT's prices are total...no taxes on top of the cost, no shipping cost.

Awesome tip bumbershoot. Thank you!!

Just as a note, we order DH's ticket from Undercover tourist every time he goes, and then get his ticket added on to his KTTK card when we check in. He's very happy to only have 1 thing to carry. (not an option for me, since I normally have an AP).

Thanks katied. I think I will do the same. A quick glance if I want them shipped to me (U.T. has a $1.99 auto-discount):

Code:
7 day Park Hopper Passes	Tickets	Shipping Total
DisneyWorld.com $878.63 $5.00 $883.63
Maple Leaf $851.00 $6.95 $857.95
Undercover Tourist $839.00 $(1.99) $837.01

I have to wait until May 15th to get the next newsletter discount (unless someone can please pm me the link, but no big deal). About how much will that be?

Your ticket prices are very high. What else are they covering? This has to be more than a 7 day hopper. Annual passes aren't this much. I checked UT to get a price , but you have to have something else added into it.

I left out one key piece of info ... those prices are for 2 adults and 1 child. Sorry about that.

OMG we are DVC members since 2002 and have tried several scenarios ( pre-order from Disney, order from CAA etc ). UNDERCOVER TOURIST. Hands down!!!!

Yes, you will have an "extra ticket". But you will get it for a heck of a lot cheaper than you would direct from Disney. They are genuine Disney tickets that can be upgraded, replaced, etc AT DISNEY provided you have the serial numbers ( On this, I recommend taking a photocopy of the sheet of tickets when you receive it and keeping it in the safe at the room ). The the UT service is Fantastically Disney Worthy. They will refund any unused tickets, they will express mail tickets as needed and they guarantee receipt of tickets within 12 business days. Taxes and shipping are included in their prices and if you get the MouseSavers newletter, you can get a link to them with even MORE discount.

We love them, have used them three times now and will continue to do so. This past trip, we ordered tickets for our huge party of 20 people and they threw in the express shipping for free since it was such a large order!

Can't say enough about them.

Everyone listed on the reservation receives a KTTW card, it is your room key, as well as verification you are onsite for the Extra Magic Hours at the parks. They are also your electronic DDP vouchers, if you are getting the Dining Plan. You can add charging privileges to the cards individually at check-in, and add tickets to individual cards at the concierge desk in your resort lobby.

Thanks xipetotec. And I plan to integrate the Undercover Tourist tickets into our KTTW cards when I arrive, so no "extra ticket" after I check-in.

They will refund any unused tickets ....

How does that work? One Adult 7 day Park Hopper is $291. I plan on using all 7 days. However, a 10 day costs $299 and a 3 day costs $282. If I buy a 10 day, can I get the 3 extra days "refunded"? If so, for how much? $8, or something more?

Disney doesn't refund any tickets. The PP meant that UT will refund unused ticket (I didn't know that) - still sealed up in the unopened plastic, I'm sure.
