Has anyone brought all their own stuff to Castaway Kay? How did it work out?

Floats? Tubes?
Sand Toys?
Snorkeling equipment?

I have brought my own floats. It's a lot easier to spot your kid when they're on a different colored tube or float. All those blue mats and clear rings look alike! And if you lose your float, it's easier to know it's yours when it's different.

My kids are too big for sand toys, so we didn't bring those.

We did bring snorkle gear for the kids and DH (he and I need prescription masks, but he had his from scuba certification, I was just blind!) The snorkle gear does take up quite a bit of room. For me, I'm not a real germ freak, so in the future, we'll probably only take DH's mask and just rent gear if we want to snorkle.

We brought our own snorkeling gear (minus fins) to every port of call on the Western cruise. It worked out just fine! I think we saved a lot of time and money and it really wasn't cumbersome.

Have fun!

We took sand toys and floaties and it worked out great!! You can pack them in your suitcase and put clothes inside them,(like socks inside the sand pail, etc.) and the floaties are flat and take up very little room. If you buy cheapy ones from the dollar stores, you can leave them there or dispose of them and then have room for the souvieners in your luggage. You can also mail them to Shirley @ The Perfect Gift to have made up into a Welcome basket for the stateroom. That's what I did and it was a nice surprise for our DGD.

A collection of sand toys on Castaway Cay is $16! We bought one and never used them -- ended up giving them to the family sitting next to us.

We brought our snorkeling gears and sand toys, and a big blue tube and that was great.....
The girls loved to play in the sand, and it is great for them to use equipment that they are used to to snorkel, we know it fits them right.... Easier to spot them with our tube.... and it fold up very compact, we also used all of that in t. Marteen when we spent the day on the beach.

I brought a "coolie". Buy 5 beers get 1 free lol Just kidding. We will be on our 4th dcl sailing the November.......it's AMAZING how many people for get sunscreen or tanning oil. The sun is DEFINATELY stronger there........Don't forget you waterproof money and KTTW holders.

I know you are asking about the toys...

Unless your kids really need the toys, considering passing them up all together. My husband brought some sand toys for our 6 YO, but she wanted to be in her kids club (Scuttles cove) and swim with Daddy a little later. So, the toys just took up space.

Later in the day, people leave all their mats and tubes on the beach and head aboard. We claimed a lost tube wandering in the water with no owner. I found it 70 feet offshore while I was snorkeling. No one in sight. My kids played with it for 1/2 hour. That gave them their fill.

I did bring my own snorkel mask and fins. One of my fins split in Cozumel and was useless. So, I rented the fins in CC for $9 for the day. Even if you bring your own, they require you to wear an orange vest in the Family snorkel area. They will give you one at no cost.

And bring WAAAY more waterproof/sweatproof SUNBLOCK than you think you will need.

If you're an avid snorkeler, bring your own stuff -- we brought ours, and my sister did not, and she had trouble with her mask and flippers. We brought everything in a big duffle bag and stored it for most of the cruise, then pulled it out for snorkel times.

We brought our own snorkel equipment. It was worth it, as the rental stuff was not very good. Didn't take up a lot of room to pack.

Another one here for more sunscreen than you think you will ever need and apply it every 30 minutes if not more!!!!!!!! I thought I was fine and covered and after an hour, I should have put more on before that because I was a lobster color within an hour.
