Hi everyone!

I'm going to disney in september, and I was just wondering if any one had any advice on the best places to get vegetarian food?

I've been looking at the menu's and noticed alot of the resturants don't have even one non-meat option, does anyone know if I have to request a seperate vegetarian menu? ..I'm from the UK and am not entirely sure of the etiquette!

Thanks for any advice you can give (:

There was a whole vegetarian thread just earlier this week - maybe search a bit for it. Also, check out allears.net - there is an excellent guide for vegetarians in WDW.
BUT since you asked...as a vegetarian here are my favorites: Boma, Tusker House, Crystal Palace, Columbia Harbor House, the Land pavilion in Epcot, California Grill, the Plaza. Most anywhere will get you a veggie burger, even if it isn't on the menu.
ETA: I just noticed you are going in September - yikes! That is free dining, and you really should have been on top of those ADR's a couple of months ago. It might be tough for you to get TS reservations now, so you might get stuck with just CS options.

Hi! I'm pretty sure that most all of the table service restaurants will have at least one veg choice if you ask. Maybe not all will have a separate menu, but my aunt was able to ask for a veggie burger at a couple of places (50s PTC was one for sure) even though they weren't on the menu. Also, I have read a lot of posts about people with food allergies having the chefs make them something special, so I'm SURE they'd be able to do that for you as well if you didn't find anything. I guess that makes it hard to plan in advance, but you won't go hungry!

My sister is a vegan and has no problem eating all around DW.

She is always able to special order a meal at a TS restaurant. The chef will come to the table and speak to her about what she would like.

There are some CS places that are better than others.

MK - Columbia Harbour House has a good veggie sandwich.

DHS - Backlot Studios also has a good veggie sandwich.

Epcot - Sunshine Seasons has several veggie options. The CS place in Morocco is also good.

AK - I think she gets a veggie burger someplace here.

For snacks there are fruit smoothies in all the parks.

awsome thanks very much for the advice everyone (:

I did have a little search for a previous thread, but I shall look harder now (:

I'm really rubbish at making people go out of their way for the things I want...so just wanted to make sure it was the done thing to ask and I wouldn't be putting someone out! but I guess that's one of the things that makes disney so wonderful, so will make sure I ask if they can sort me out!

We hadn't made any reservations because we're a go with the flow kind of family and a CM friend said we didn't necessarily need them...but that yikes has made me think again!

thanks again for the tips! I'm writting these places down (:

I know exactly how it is trying to find something and still wanting to go with the flow of everyone else.. I also hate eating garden burgers all vacation long! I'm personally beginning to think restaurants don't even try to come up with better alternatives...

However! Check out this book: Vegetarian Walt Disney and Greater Orlando.

This book saved me. It goes through each of the restaurants in the parks and the resorts as well as many of those around Orlando and Universal.

If all else fails... Just ask for a vegetarian alternative. I remember I was at CRT for dinner and they didn't have a single option on the menu. All I had to do was ask and they brought me a wonderful vegetable pasta dish. Unlike some other food issues, Disney will almost always have a solution without you needing to call them 24 hrs in advance like they note on their website.

Hope you have a great time!

im a fellow veg. and have never had any problem finding veggie friendly options. I have a friend who works as a hostess at chef mickey's and she gave me some advice...when you get to the resturant, just tell the hostess that you don't eat meat and they will get the chef to come to your table.
They are really very accomodating!

Good luck....Have Fun!!:thumbsup2

My DH is a vegetarian and he's never had any problem dining in WDW. When there's not a veggie option on the menu (this is very rare), the chef has had no problem accomadating him.

Here's a link to my review, where we ate at around 28 TS restaurants, and DH reviewed the veggie choices at each one.

Hope this helps
