Going to pick up a rental car tomorrow from Enterprise. Can someone give me some advice on the toll responder, or what ever you call it that might be on the vehicle.

We pay cash for all our tolls and don't want any extra fees. Thanks.

Make sure that the Transponder's(on the front windshield of the car) flip switch type of button is on off, "think down" but not sure. We did quite a bit of driving on this trip, Airport to HRH, then to Poly, then to Vero. Rented a transponder and really liked it, felt it was very convenient.::yes::

Doesn't it cost more?

We rented the transponder for something like $19.95 for the length of our rentsl, 8 days. It is my understanding that the tolls would be the same cost if you paid cash. For us, the rental cos of transponder was well worth the convenience of no backup at toll booths as,well as having change on us.

We rented a transponder through Budget for 16.75 and we felt the same way. It was worth it to not have to worry about tolls. When we arrived home the charges on our credit card bills were correct. No issues. One tip the person at Budget gave us was to keep a note pad in the car and jot down the toll booths we went through...just for backup

The major rental car companies at Orlando International Airport all offer optional toll services, but most of these do not involve transponders.

See https://www.sunpass.com/rentalcar

Enterprise does not use transponders.

There is no formal "opt in" or "opt out" when you pick up your car from Enterprise. You automatically "opt in" if you use an open road tolling lane or fail to pay a cash toll. If you pay your tolls in cash (by staying to the right and using a Cash lane or a "Change Receipts" lane), you will not incur any toll service fees from Enterprise. You can get a receipt at a "Change Receipts" toll lane if you want proof that you paid.

There's now just one toll if you use the North Exit from the airport and use the toll road to I-4. There are two tolls if you use the South Exit and use SR-417 to exit 6.

Once you're in the tourist corridor, there are no tolls. You can drive between WDW, Universal, SeaWorld, LEGOLAND, outlet malls, and attractions on International Drive without encountering a toll plaza.

I've assumed you're flying to Orlando International and visiting Orlando area attractions, although you didn't say so. There are other locations, especially Miami, where the using a rental car company's toll service can be worthwhile.
