Advice on ticket upgrades please

Hi everyone. I hope this is the right forum to ask- need a check on my thinking!

I am a UK resident, and currently we are eligible for Florida resident tickets since we own a home in Kissimmee

Currently there are 4 of us, and in August we renewed our Florida Select Weekday passes. Now we are thinking about going for a few days over the holidays.

Because of blackouts, I think the cost to upgrade our passes would be the Florida resident Platinum pass renewal rate minus what we have already paid:

So this would be $584 (Fl Plat Ren) - $233 (Fl Weekday Select Ren), i.e. $351 (all plus taxes).

Is this correct, and my only real option? I'm thinking for this cost I would be better just buying a 5 day MYW ticket for around $320 per person as it would be cheaper?

Any advice or tips would be very much appreciated!

The 5 day MYW ticket would not include hopping like the AP would - and you won't have any discounts the AP would provide.

If you stay offsite, and you only use the 5 day ticket, you'd need to factor in parking fees at 20.00 per day. The AP provides free parking.

Additionally, you would get the unlimited photo downloads (that's new, makes it a free photopass) along with the parking covered. Also, if there is a holiday park closing, Annual guests would have a bit more priority over park entry (from what I have been told.) You can get discounts in dining, usually 10% at certain sit down restaurants and 10% of merch. With your pass good til next August, would you be able to utilize it more than just this visit? Also, is there any opportunity to go more than those days? With APs, you know how you can come and go here and there, half day, see some fireworks etc.

One more thing to consider. Unless you have MVMCP, you will need to take into account early closures for MK. Just want to make sure you get the value out of your pass if that's what you decide. (You can always hop to EP on those days if you want.)

Many thanks for your replies. I think the upgraded pass is probably the way to go, as it means I lose any potential black out dates at Easter and early Summer. Like many have said over the platinum increases, it's a shame though that I have to in effect pay for 4 lots of free parking and 4 lots of photo pass!

Good points about getting slightly higher priority at getting into parks though.

It is great that we can get FL tickets. The only other downside is we can only upgrade our passes in person, which means no fast pass reservations in advance

Can you buy the 5 day MYW ticket for around $320 per person now and then use that to upgrade in person at the gate? That way you should get the benefit of getting early FP's.

Does anybody know if that can be done for the OP?
