We were thinking to go with a Southern California Citypass (SeaW,Zoo,Hollywood studio & 3 days DL) for the first week of July (flight in July 5). Our plan to spend 3 days in SanDiego (SeaW & Zoo) and 5 days in DL (DL & Studio). .
1. Any suggestions on hotel in SD? Should we rent a car from the SD airport?
2. Between 2 Zoo’s, which one is better for a 6 yrs old boy.
3. Also to go to DL from SD, will it cheaper to rent a car from SD and return it in DL?
4. Finally, I was told to stay away from LAX airport, if that is the case what is another alternative airport?
Sorry for asking so many questions. This is our first trip to DL and I try to put together a plan (a good advive that I got from this forum). I have learned a lot from others members in here. Thank you all in advance.

There is the Orange County airport(SNA).We are also doing the City pass thing.I have never been to been to any of these places either.I'm interested on any info as well.

Have you considered Legoland at all? My son is also 6 and that is his favorite theme park bar none. Pretty much the entire park is aimed at 5-10 year old boys.

As far as the zoos go he didnt really like either one but he liked the Wild Animal Park better I think. If you end up going to the SD Zoo be aware there are tons of museums and stuff around the zoo. My son loved the miniature train museum. We spent a whole day there.

He did like Sea World a lot. Much more than either of the Zoos.

When you say Hollywood Studios I assume you mean Universal Studios? We've never been to the Universal Studios in California but we've gone to the one in Orlando and there really wasnt that much that he really liked there and Im pretty sure the California park is smaller than the Orlando park. However he did like Islands of Adventure in Orlando but there is no such park in California.

Hope this helps.

I really like the Wild animal park but, in July it is going to be VERY HOT! The zoo will be much cooler!

Universal Studios, my boys liked it and they are scaredy cats when it comes to rides(we have to force them on rides like Dumbo and Alice in Wonder land LOL).

SNA is a good option!

I would rent a Car in SD.. southern CA is not know for great public transportation. It will make life easier getting there on your own.

Depends where you want to stay in SD.. but HOtel Circle area is great location and cheapish.

Thank you Sportbettor & Pucka for your tips. I will get more info on the Loegoland. I guess, visiting a zoo on a hot day may not be a good idea. Any sugetions on car rental at SNA airport?

When I rent a car I usually just go to the SNA website and price the time period and car type I want from the various onsite car rental companies. I usually pay around $90-$100/week for a compact car. http://www.ocair.com/groundtransport/rentalcars.htm.

You really should look into Legoland, your son will love it. We have APs for Disneyland and Legoland and my son rarely asks when we are going back to Disneyland but always asks when we are going back to Legoland.
