My wife and I have been to the world 4 times, always with the children, and never on-site. Our last trip was just at the end of May and of course we are ready to go back. I am planning a surprise trip for just the two of us in early December. So I need advice from those of you who have stayed on-site as to what hotels would be good for a long weekend getaway just the two of us.

From what I have seen my preferences would be Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom Lodge, or the Contemporary. How do the AKL and CR look at Christmas? Thanks for your help.

We stayed at the Poly in early December '02 and LOVED it, so don't count the Poly out! It was so gorgeous, and very romantic ;) .

Regarding the hotels at Christmas....we did a day-long tour of all the deluxes, and I gotta say, one was more gorgeous than the next. They each have their own unique decorations, with a theme that compliments the hotel's own theme.

IMO, GF is very romantic at Christmastime. Also Poly.

I liked POFQ at Christmas as well.

It just depends on what sort of decor appeals most to you. If you like the idea of a woodsy lodge, with a fire in the fireplace, WL is it for you. If you like grand elegance, lots of white and gold mixed in with your red Christmas decorations, GF would do it for you. And the Polynesian is lovely too, and a favorite of mine, but personally I don't prefer it for Christmastime. I love the island look and feel, but my fave for Christmastime is the WL. :)

The Wilderness Lodge is beautiful at Christmas...love it.

Oooh...for a romantic trip for the two of you..at Christmas time...go to AKL. The place itself is beatiful. Hubby and I spent a long weekend there..never even left the resort. We relaxed and enjoyed everything the resort had to offer...perfect place for that.

Has to depend on you and what you like. I like the WL for a romantic trip and a nice dinner at Artist point.

I would stay at the Polynesian. The Boardwalk is really nice also.

Whether you decide stay I would call ant talk to the Guest Services Manager before you arrive. They will usually accomodate any special requests that you might have.

My personal preference would be WL, especially since you'll be there during the holidays. There is a huge tree that fills up the atrium lobby. Regardless of where you stay, be sure to visit the other resorts (esp. GF) to take a look at the decorations.

One of the things we enjoyed doing at WL was renting a boat and going around Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon. It was neat to see the resorts and MK from a different vantage point. We also saw WL's geyser go off while we were on the boat.

Ditto the suggestion about Artist Point for dinner (if you decide on WL)...we've made that our "last dinner" the past several trips.
