We've just found out that some very good friends of ours are having a short stopover in Orlando during the time we're there this November. We've said that it'd be nice to meet up somewhere at WDW (resorts) for a meal one evening but I could really do with some advice from the kind people here, about WHICH restaurant to choose.

There will be five of us - Me, DH, DD(4) and our two friends. Now DH and I are easy to please but we need somewhere that DD will enjoy but that isn't too 'cutsie' as that just isn't our friends (male) thing at all. His partner (female) is really into Pooh bear etc (as am I - hence the name!!!!) but is diabetic and VERY fussy about her food. Male friend is less fussy but IS vegetarian. Oh and DD will eat anything 'unhealthy' - ie Chicken Nuggets, pizza etc!!!

HELP!!!! Any advice folks?!!!

I believe Pooh may be at the buffet at the GF. The quality of the food there is above the norm at WDW buffets. I should think everyone could pick out the type of food they like. Have you looked at the menus on Deb Wills' site? www.allearsnet.com

If you eat in WDW parks themselves, you will have to purchase park admission, I believe ..
The resorts have some great places to eat. If a character dinner is too "cutesy", you might enjoy eating at one of the restaurants at the AKL - great food, some wonderful vegeterian dishes - and unusual (African) cuisine.

Boma's at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Nice variety with some different things. Plenty of choices for a vegetarian and kids choices including chicken nuggets. If theres any questions about any of the foods for your diabetic friend the chef will come out and answer any questions about the food for you.

If you want to avoid paying park admission then try one of the resort restaurants. How about one at the Boardwalk. Plus after dinner you can walk around.

They will try hard to accommodate your dietary needs if you can give them notice (24 hours).

My favorite is California Grill at Contemporary Resort. Love the atmosphere and there's nothing like that view!

Boma's was my first thought too. Good buffet. Even with the diabetes concern, I think there would be plenty to choose from.
Another fun place, with a lot of variety, would be House of Blues in DTD.
Fairly easy access in and out too.
