I need to get the cheapest available fares for flights to and from NY Wednesday April 26 returning Sunday Night April 29th. My niece is getting married at Joshua Tree National Park and I'm going to give the kids the airfare for Christmas so everyone can attend. We will also will need two rental cars (I know it's cheaper to rent these at certain airports) We will be flying into Which ever airport is the cheapest and staying in DL for the first two nights. :) Any advice is appreciated! Thanks

:)Ok, I'll bite. This is what I have learned fromt he DIS regarding flights. You never want to purchase tickets on the weekend and flights are usually lower in price Tuesdays and Wednesdays. If you see a fare you can live with buy it then. I would not purchase tickets from a broker like Expedia, Orbitz, etc and would only book directly with the airline carrier. So while I use Epedia and other vendors to check on prices and flight times since I can see several at once--I always then go directly to the carrier, find the flight and book with them. If the flight gets cancelled or you have issues it is much easier dealing with Delta, than Expedia. my hunch is that gas will not get any cheaper for awhile and my flights for OCt just increased by $97 each round trip.

:)I see you are from NY, but there is no way in double hockey sticks that I would ever drive in the LA/Anaheim/DL area--just liek I would never drive in NYC. I would fly in, get a shuttle, arrive a DL and then taxi to the wedding. JMHO. I live in South Mississippi and compared to these areas---weeee drivvveeee slooooowwwwww( in my best drawl of course). And yep I have been to both areas mentioned.

Gina...we have to stop meeting like this..lol!!!

I cant help you with the flights but (sorry above poster) I have never had a problem with driving in the DL/LA/Anaheim area (but I would NEVER drive in Manhattan given the choice) and I have driven with my friend and also with my family...NOTHING like Manhattan.

Hope to see you real soon!!

If your not picky with times and carrier, we always get good rates with priceline, hotwire and expedia for the cheapest rates. I've purchased flights, hotels and rental cars through these sites with much success numerous times. Once you get the confirmation number from the booking travel site, you can call the direct supplier with any questions/confirmation.

Kayak is the best place to search and then just go directly to the carrier.

For southwest you will have to go to thier website, and they do not open booking for that time unitl lat fall

As other have said be flexible

I agree with the above and would also add that it is way too early to expect great prices. However, it is never ot early to learn about the market for prices. If you watch flight prices regularly, you will be able to tell when the price for your dates is reasanable. -- Suzanne

My first choice for airports in the DL area is Orange County-Santa Ana (John Wayne). It's not far from Disneyland and rental cars are usually reasonable.
