I need some advice as I'm not sure what to do, its long winded so bear with me! :goodvibes

At the end of my road there are playing fields and a big wood, every weekend my mum and I walk our dogs through there. Last weekend when we walked up there we noticed a scruffy looking man sitting in his car, we walked for over an hour and a half and as we walked back we were surprised to see him still sat there. It was very hot and he just looked odd sat in what must have been a boiling hot car, you get a lot of children playing round there as it is very quiet and not very many cars around and he seemed to be watching them. He just looked dodgy and we made a point of memorising his number plate and I think he realised this. So, this morning we walked the dogs again, we decided to walk a different way and walked up a dirt road that used to lead to an industrial estate but is now blocked off, you can get into the woods this was as well, as we walked up we noticed that the man was parked on the side of the road by the entrance to the woods, as we got closer he turned around and drove off, he gave us a really sh***y look as he drove past.

Something about this man is odd and why is he parking his car for long periods of time around areas where children play? I don't think he is waiting for someone as he drove off when he saw us and he is obviously there for a long time. Part of me thinks maybe I should give his number plate to the police but then am I just over reacting, I suppose he could just be enjoying the sunshine??? :confused3

What would you do?

Jen, I would inform the police. It may be nothing, but its better to play on the safe side rather than wait, especially if he did turn out to be a "nasty character".

We had a case of this a few years ago near the school behind us, and a neighbour informed the police. Never saw him again after that !!

Better to be safe than sorry I say. If he's innocent he has nothing to hide, but if he's guilty then you could be saving someones life there.

Bit melodramatic I know, but there are too many paedophiles around these days.

go with your instincts Jen, it may be nothing but worst case it could be something

I would ring crimestoppers to make them aware of it.

report it. It may be nothing but thing how you'd feel if you did nothing and something happened.

Yes do report it to the Police for Intelligence purposes alone it may well be worth it, you never know it may be the one piece of info that helps piece something together.

Claire ;)

Report it straight away
if something happens how will you feel

better to be safe then sorry
it will only take a phone call

I would agree with everyone else. You may be wrong but it will only take a phonecall and you will feel happier.

Like everyone else has said, I would report it too. Let us know how you get on Jen

Yes, Definatly report this man. It's a good thing you got his numberplate:thumbsup2 If you don't want to call Crimestoppers then call your local station.

Keep us informed please Jen.

Definitely report it to the police. I drive my daughter to the bus stop early in the mornings. On the way there I noticed a man sitting in his car...this isn't unusual at that time b/c this is a new development & sometimes the workers arrive early & have to wait for their crews. However, when I left for work about 1 hours later, he was still there and it was getting time for the elementary school kids to head to the bus stop. I jotted down the tag number & called the police on my way to work. The problem was, he was looking right at me and I'm sure he could tell I was writing down the tag number. By the time the police arrived he was nowhere to be found. The police told me they would patrol the area around the beginning & end of school times periodically over the next week just to be sure....so obviously they were taking this seriously.
Its just better safe than sorry!!

Ive just got back from the police station, they took all the details and said they will do a background check on his car and see if it brings anything up.

Well Done Jen, you could just have saved someones life and if not, and the man is just an innocent, then no harm done:hug:

You done the right thing

I agree with everyone else and you did the right thing :thumbsup2 Where kids are concerned I don't think you can be too over cautious. As has been said if he is innocent then there's no harm done and if he was up to something then you have prevented something terrible happening, well done.:goodvibes

I agree you have done the right thing. :thumbsup2

Definately done the right thing! DH and I played golf last week(on a public course) and we had 2 young (11 ish) boys playing infront of us and infront of them was a man playing on his own who constantly watched them. It freaked me out a bit as it seemed so unusual. We kept an eye on them but we only played 9 holes so we made a point of telling the people behind us to keep an eye on them. I know it sounds silly but you never can be too careful where kids are concerned. It's also sad that we have to think like this!
