Advice needed: 1 wheelchair,1 ECV, 1 service dog

I guess our alternative right now is that Mom will use my wheelchair, and I'll walk as much as able, and just fine a place to sit and rest if I'm too tired. We will be traveling down in 2 vehicles, but only taking one to the parks (8 people in a 7 passenger van). I'm not sure we'd have room for both the wheelchair and the ECV. We are really hoping to get her a power wheelchair that folds, BUT, we need insurance to cooperate with that. I don't know why those are not more standard than the big, heavy power wheelchair that require and accessible van to transport. It seems to me, especially if costs are similar that quality of life should be a factor in those decisions.

Considering you already have too many in the car for number of seats,I certainly wouldn't add a power wheelchair to that,no matter how small it folds,
Are their not laws on people having to each have a seat in cars? How will everyone have a seat belt?

They will rent to anyone who is of age,you do not have to have ever used one,to rent one for a park! As what happens to people who only need one for big parks like disney?

Just to clarify...the post you quoted and responded to, was actually a response to the post directly above it specifically asking about renting power wheelchairs not ECVs. Most companies do not rent power wheelchairs unless the user has one at home and is familiar with the use. In OP's situation, the person does use one at home so it would be an option to an ECV, however most are not as compact to travel well like the model in the link.

You are correct that ECVs are typically rented to anyone age 18+ regardless of experience.

I've been to Disney World many times with my service dog, the best thing to do when the person with a disability (w/the dog wants to ride) to split up to two parties. The cast members help you. I wouldn't trust leaving my $10000 in a crate.

A couple of clarifications/answers, then I am closing this thread since the OP has already gone on their trip.

Thank you everyone for your advice. I was thinking originally that since the dog is actually clipped into the pouch, it might be ok. However, I think we will just do rider switch for the 2 rides (Soarin' and Peter Pan) where that would be an issue. NOW, just to clarify--someone will get to re-ride with her if we do that, correct? I mean she won't have to ride by herself?

Also, can someone let me know which queues are not mainstreamed...the only one I know for sure in Peter Pan.

Peter Pan IS now a Mainstreamed line. It was recently renovated and is now accessible in both the regular line (for those who don't have Fastpass) and the FASTPASS Line (for those using Fastpass or DAS).
It is still listed as 'must be ambulatory' because the mobility device can't be brought right up to the ride car - guests need to walk about 15 feet and the moving walkway can't be stopped or flowed in usual operation.

I just want to be prepared for everything. Also where handicap viewing is for fireworks and parades, mostly at MK, and how early we need to be there if we want to use those areas. I assume it is a different area than the FP area.

Handicapped viewing areas are marked on all park maps, not just those for guests with disabilities.

No matter what guest services or disability services says, the cm athe ride has the final say in all things safety. The rides service animals are not allowed in are due to safety issues (the animal and humans around it). No one here has ever reported being allowed to take a service animal on a ride where animals weren't permitted. I also think most people wouldn't attempt to do so because their service animal is so vital to their health and well being they wouldn't want it to be injured or worse.

True - ride operation CMs have the final say, it doesn't matter what Guests are told on the phone or even in Guest Relations in the park......

Even if the animal is small, in a pouch and clipped to the pouch, they won't allow the animal on the rides where service animals are not permitted.

But, if the attraction is one where Service Animals are not permitted, it won't matter how small or well secured it is to a person. It won't be permitted.

Some people feel very comfortable leaving their animal in one of the provided kennels - they are not out where other guests will have access to the animal. Some people feel very uncomfortable about using the provided kennels.
It's really up to the individual guest and their comfort level.
There are Aldo guests who require the Assistsnce of their companions to ride, so the only way they can ride is by having their dog use the kennel.
