My son, 17, really really really wants to go to Alton Towers. He is a roller coaster fanatic and hopes to design roller coasters for a living. We are looking to visit next summer and need a place to stay for two adults and two teens. I have found a timeshare unit called Wychnor Park Country Club. If anyone has ever heard of it or has some advice for me, I would really appreciate it! The kids have never been out of North America and it would be great fun.

If you could swing it I would recommend staying in either of the hotels for a night, it would make the day more special. I personally prefer the Alton Towers hotel over Spalsh Landings (I have stayed in both). Plus then you can spend time in the park and Cariba Creek, the water park (which has a really cool water rollercoaster). If you stay on site you also get early entry for Air and Nemesis (2 of the major coasters) plus you get priority passes. If you have any questions about Alton Towers please feel free to PM me, I am an annual pass holder and go to AT a lot (just like WDW you need a plan to make the most of your day.)
If you would like more advice on Alton Towers let me know and I can point you in the direction of some good AT discussion boards like the Dis.
I love Alton Towers and if your son is coaster mad he will be in his element as the coasters there are world class (plus the whole park is beautiful too.)

Thanks, Dana. Maybe we should just stay at a nice timeshare anywhere in England but plan to spend a couple of nights at Alton Towers and the rest at the resort. Is there a certain area of England that you think a 17 and 20 year old boy and girl and 40 something parents would like and that would be good for a central place to stay?

If you are going to Alton Towers I would recommend staying on site. Especially for the indoor pool!!!
